Senior Cloud Engineer
Position Objective:
Design and deliver a scalable, secure private cloud platform using VMware and OpenShift. The role is focused on architecture, implementation, and onboarding, ensuring the platform is production-ready, standardized, and aligned with security, governance, and operational requirements.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of private cloud infrastructure and container platforms.
- Define architecture designs (HLD/LLD) for cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Build and deploy core cloud platforms based on VMware and OpenShift technologies.
- Integrate cloud platforms with enterprise systems, including networking, security, monitoring, identity management, and ITSM solutions.
- Enable cloud capabilities such as automation, self-service provisioning, orchestration, and multi-tenancy.
- Define standards for scalability, availability, performance, and security.
- Ensure platform designs comply with cybersecurity policies, governance frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Deploy and configure the VMware stack, including vSphere, vCenter, NSX-T, and vSAN.
- Implement disaster recovery (DR) architecture, backup solutions, and replication strategies.
- Design and deploy cloud management components, including VMware Aria Automation (vRA), Aria Orchestrator (vRO), and Aria Operations (vROps).
- Design and implement automation workflows using vRO, Ansible, Python, and REST APIs.
- Enable self-service provisioning and service catalog capabilities through ServiceNow and VMware Aria Automation.
- Build templates, blueprints, and standardized deployment models.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, network, and application teams to ensure successful platform adoption and onboarding.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting, and support during implementation and operational handover phases.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering.
- VMware stack: vSphere, vCenter, NSX-T, vSAN, Aria Suite (vRA, vRO, vROps)
- OpenShift (OCP): deployment, administration, scaling, networking, and storage integration
- Automation: Ansible, Python, REST APIs, and infrastructure automation
- Networking: Data center networking, segmentation, load balancing, and firewalls
- Storage: Enterprise storage, software-defined storage, backup, and disaster recovery
- Integration: ServiceNow, identity management, APIs, and enterprise systems
- Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, and compliance requirements
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Relevant VMware and/or Red Hat OpenShift certifications are preferred.
