Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior CMS Developer to lead the development, customization, optimization, and maintenance of CMS-based websites and applications. This role requires strong technical expertise, architectural understanding, and the ability to mentor junior developers while ensuring high standards of performance, security, and scalability across all CMS projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, customization, and maintenance of CMS-based websites (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or similar platforms).
- Design, develop, and optimize custom themes, templates, plugins/modules, and CMS components.
- Architect CMS solutions aligned with business and project requirements.
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Customize and extend CMS functionality using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Ensure website performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and cross-browser/device compatibility.
- Oversee content architecture, data migration, and complex CMS configurations.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced CMS-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Implement and enforce coding standards, security best practices, and version control workflows.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Optimize websites for performance, scalability, security, and SEO best practices.
- Maintain and review technical documentation for CMS architecture and custom developments.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and solutions effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of professional experience working with CMS platforms (WordPress expertise preferred).
- Strong command of PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and CMS architecture.
- Hands-on experience developing custom themes and plugins/modules from scratch.
- Strong understanding of MySQL databases, server environments, and hosting configurations.
- Experience with website security hardening, performance optimization, and SEO best practices.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, third-party integrations, and deployment workflows.
- Experience using version control systems (Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and take ownership of CMS projects end-to-end.
