We are seeking a Senior Coffee Roaster with a strong passion for small-batch roasting, micro-lot coffees, and flavor exploration. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and excited to work closely with green coffee, develop new roast profiles, and continuously refine quality across every batch.
Roasting & Production
- Roast specialty coffee in small batches, maintaining consistency and high quality across all profiles on (W6A roaster)
- Develop, test, and refine new roast profiles for micro-lots, single origins, and seasonal coffees
- Execute production roasting schedules efficiently while meeting quality standards
- Monitor roast data, curves, and performance to ensure repeatability and accuracy
Quality Control & Cupping
- Lead and participate in cupping sessions for quality control, profile evaluation, and green coffee assessment
- Ensure flavor clarity, balance, and consistency across all roasts
- Identify defects and implement corrective actions when needed
Green Coffee & Inventory
- Assist in green coffee evaluation, selection, and sample roasting
- Monitor green and roasted coffee inventory, freshness, and storage conditions
- Maintain proper labeling, traceability, and batch records
Equipment & Safety
- Operate, clean, and maintain roasting equipment to a high standard
- Identify basic technical issues and coordinate maintenance when required
- Follow all safety, hygiene, and food handling standards
Collaboration & Development
- Work closely with baristas, quality teams, and management to align roast profiles with brew methods
- Contribute ideas for new coffees, limited releases, and experimental roasts
- Stay informed on industry trends, processing methods, and roasting techniques
Preferred
- Experience with sample roasting and green coffee sourcing
- Familiarity with roast profiling software
- Q Grader certification (or working toward it)
- Experience working in a growing or startup roastery environment
