Riedinger Consulting is a Sausalito based firm that specializes in management and analysis of engineering and construction projects. In business since 1997 as a woman-owned business, Riedinger Consulting assists public and private owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and design consultants with contract dispute resolution and project management services.


This is a full-time project specific position for a building project located in Marin County.


Job Description

The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for managing an $18M building project on behalf of the Owner.

Senior Construction Manager tasks include:


  • Interface with the Owner, Contractor, Design team, City, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Provide oversight and direction for all construction management activities including materials, testing, inspection, quality assurance, safety, and other requirements of the Project.
  • Conduct and document the preconstruction meeting.
  • Conduct and document weekly construction job site meetings with the Contractor, Architect, and Owner and other required meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit to the Owner a weekly progress report.
  • Review monthly payment requests from the Contractor and recommend payment.
  • Review Project schedules submitted by Contractor. Track construction progress and critical activities to proactively prevent schedule delays.
  • Identify changed conditions and define scope. Review Contractor change proposals, and negotiate agreed price with the Contractor. Prepare and process change orders for Owner approval.
  • Coordinate and manage the drawings and specifications, clarification and interpretation, shop drawings, RFI and submittal review processes.
  • Identify plan/construction issues and bring them directly to the attention of the Owner before discussing them with the Contractor.
  • Work to resolve conflicts that may arise during construction of the Project.
  • Coordinate the activities of the materials testing sub-consultant(s).
  • Monitor quality control for the Project to assure that it is built per the plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with the District’s Labor Compliance consultant (CCMI) for Contractor certified payrolls and other requirements.
  • Ensure that the Contractor maintains field mark-up drawings for use in preparation of as-builts and verify records for accuracy before final close-out.
  • Review as-builts from Contractor and submit to the Owner a final set of as-builts.


Applicant Skills and Experience

  • 15 or more years of experience in construction management.
  • At least 5 years of this experience working for a contractor.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably civil or mechanical, or bachelor degree in Construction Management or Architecture.
  • Professional registration or certification as an engineer or architect preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in use of scheduling and office software including: Primavera P6, MS Project, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), Bluebeam, Procore, and other document management software.
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary project teams, and interact with project stakeholders.
  • Attentive to details.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
