The Project Controller will provide end-to-end project controls, cost management, scheduling, financial reporting, and document control support to the Canada Mining & Metals team. The role will work closely with Project Managers, PMO, Finance, and global stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered with strong governance, accurate forecasting, and full compliance with WSP systems and standards.


Project Controls & Planning

  • Apply WSP project control lifecycles, procedures, and governance frameworks across global mining and metals projects.
  • Establish and maintain WBS, PMS, schedules, S-curves, manpower histograms, and cost-loaded programmes.
  • Develop, baseline, update, and manage integrated schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Monitor progress against baseline, identify schedule deviations, risks, and recovery actions.
  • Apply CPM and Earned Value Management (EVM) to track performance and forecast outcomes.
  • Prepare progress reports, dashboards, KPIs, and earned value analyses for senior leadership.

Cost Control & Financial Management

  • Support project setup, budgeting, forecasting, billing, and close-out in Oracle Horizon (or equivalent ERP).
  • Prepare billing drafts, invoices, accruals, and financial forecasts in coordination with Finance and PMO.
  • Track project costs, timesheets, expenses, change orders, and scope variations; identify and mitigate cost and schedule risks.
  • Support opportunity creation, risk assessments, and RMIS documentation during proposal and pre-proposal stages.
  • Act as a financial and commercial “buddy” to Project Managers across the project lifecycle.

Scheduling, Risk & Governance

  • Maintain resource- and cost-loaded schedules; identify critical paths and schedule risks.

• Assess impacts of changes to baseline schedules, milestones, and budgets; support mitigation and recovery planning. • Support QSRA/QCRA where required.

  • Manage project documentation in line with WSP quality, audit, and governance requirements using EDMS platforms (Aconex, ProjectWise, Autodesk).

Stakeholder & PMO Support

  • Interface daily with Project Managers, Planners, and global teams to capture progress, risks, and changes.
  • Support PMO and portfolio reporting, governance reviews, and Business Management System compliance.
  • Coordinate with Canada, US, and other global teams across time zones to ensure consistency in project controls.

Leadership & Culture

  • Promote a performance-driven culture aligned with WSP values.
  • Mentor junior project control staff and contribute to capability building within the GCC Mining team.
  • Adopt a “Best for WSP” mindset in all activities.

Key Competencies & Skills Mandatory

  • Strong experience in Project Controls within a consultancy or professional services environment.
  • Proven expertise in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and project scheduling/reporting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of CPM, EVM, cost forecasting, and project financial controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, Word, and dashboard/report development.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Horizon / NetSuite / SAP or similar).
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Bachelor’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Master's degree in Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 6–10 years (flexible based on capability) of experience in project controls, cost control, scheduling, or PMO roles within engineering or consulting environments.
  • CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
