JOB ROLE:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations of the company, including financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, compliance, internal controls, and payroll oversight. This role ensures the integrity of financial information, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process
  • Develop financial forecasts and cash flow projections
  • Analyze variances and provide recommendations to leadership
  • Support strategic planning through financial modeling and analysis

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
  • Coordinate external audits and serve as primary liaison with auditors
  • Oversee tax compliance and filings in partnership with external advisors

Cash Management

  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity
  • Manage banking relationships
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Payroll & Benefits Oversight

  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely
  • Oversee payroll tax compliance and reporting
  • Collaborate with HR on benefit-related financial reporting

Team Leadership

  • Establish department policies and procedures
  • Maintain and protect operations by keeping all information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and industry knowledge by reviewing professional publications and staying up to date on industry trends and products
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise the accounting/finance team. Provide mentorship and oversee performance evaluations and expectations

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Certifications and/or Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role and related field

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software programs
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff on projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and within tight timeframes.
  • Multitasking & Attention to Detail: Ability to work independently or within a team, maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Requires frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Visual acuity is essential for seeing details at close range and reading and interpreting documents and data on a computer screen. Regular communication, both in person and by telephone, is necessary. Occasionally, the job may require standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms. There may also be instances where lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds is needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,566.80 - $150,000.00 per year
