Senior Controller - Investment Oversight

About The Role:
CBRE’s InvestmentAccounting & Reporting Solutions group is seeking a Senior Controller tojoin a collaborative team focused supporting a portfolio of clients. This roleis responsible for the oversight of financial reporting requirements ofcommercial real estate properties prepared by third party propertymanagers. You will review monthly,quarterly and annual reporting packages and other client reporting as requiredwhich are prepared by your team

What You'll Do:
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high performing teamconsisting of at least eight people across several clients, fostering a cultureof accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth whilebuilding future leadership capability.
  • Review and provide final approval of financialstatements, variance analyses, and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy,completeness, and alignment with organizational and investor expectations.
  • Implement compliance with GAAP, FASB standards,and internal policies, proactively assessing risk and driving consistentapplication across all reporting activities.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the fullfinancial reporting lifecycle for investment entities, ensuring timelydelivery, operational excellence, and scalability of processes.
  • Lead and direct highly complex financialreviews, including detailed asset level reconciliations, income statementperformance analysis, and balance sheet integrity assessments acrossportfolios.
  • Deliver forward looking financial insights andactionable recommendations to executive leadership, asset managers, and keystakeholders to influence investment strategy and performance outcomes.
  • Serve as main contact for external auditrelationships, managing timelines, and driving resolution of complex auditmatters and technical accounting issues.
  • Establish and continuously enhance a robustinternal control environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standardswhile identifying opportunities to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.
  • Act as a senior escalation point and trustedadvisor for clients, fund teams, asset managers, and auditors on complexfinancial reporting and accounting matters.
  • Partner with senior leadership to deliverstrategic financial guidance that supports capital allocation decisions,portfolio optimization, and long term value creation.
  • Champion transformation initiatives focused onprocess optimization, data governance, and reporting automation to improveefficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Provide leadership in technology strategy andsystem implementations, driving adoption of best practices and innovativesolutions across the organization.
  • Oversee accounting policy interpretation andtechnical treatment for complex transactions, including acquisitions,dispositions, restructurings, and other events.
  • Resolve and respond to escalated issues andrequests, including answering questions regarding various accounting issues andreports.
  • Partners with the field and Account Managementteams to ensure requirements and terms of the client's Management Agreement areadhered to based upon working knowledge of these agreements.
  • Coordinate work with other team members withinsingle point-of-contact (SPOC) guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot issues to ensure internal andexternal requests are handled timely, accurately, and with a focus oncustomer service.
  • Provide assistance such as technical guidance tocoworkers.
  • May coordinate and assign tasks to coworkerswithin a project.
  • Support internal and external audits, providingrequired documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure adherence to CBRE’s IA&R standards,SOX compliance (if applicable), and client‑specific policies.
  • Drive improvements in accounting procedures,reporting automation, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Support onboarding of new clients and transitionof new scopes of work.

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevantexperience required.
  • Prior experience in real estate accounting andanalytics is required.
  • Requires prior supervisory experience andexperience with real estate accounting or reporting software systems such asYardi.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate employees andclient groups to take desired action. Requires a high level of commitment tocustomer service, whether co-workers or clients.
  • Advanced technical financial skills andcomprehensive knowledge of GAAP, FASB standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast ‑ paced,client ‑ focusedenvironment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Officeapplications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the abilityto partner with clients and cross ‑ functional teams.
  • Strong quantitative skills, with the ability toperform moderately complex financial calculations such as percentages,fractions, and related numerical analyses.

The minimum salary for this position is $145,000annually and the maximum salary for this position is $165,000 annually. Thecompensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on thecandidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates willalso be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefitprogram.
