Overview:
We’re seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of complex automation and controls projects. This role is ideal for a self-motivated engineer who thrives on technical challenges, enjoys mentoring others, and is passionate about delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design electrical systems, develop PLC/HMI programs, and support the commissioning of advanced machinery—helping drive our Lean culture and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an on-site position at our state of the art facility in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Qualifications:
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 6–10 years in electrical design and programming for capital equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems).

Technical Skills:
-
Strong background in PLC programming (Omron, Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred).

Experience with HMI software (Indusoft preferred).

Experience with robotic programming (ABB, Fanuc a plus).

Proficiency in CAD for schematics and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to evaluate processes for efficiency and waste reduction.

Willingness to travel occasionally for customer-site commissioning.
Responsibilities:
-
Lead and execute electrical and controls design for automation projects with minimal supervision.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Controls Engineers.

Design electrical schematics, enclosure layouts, and related documentation.

Develop and implement PLC, HMI, and robotic programs for automated systems.

Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to meet project requirements and timelines.

Support manufacturing assembly, installation, and site acceptance testing (SAT).

Maintain project schedules and status in MPI’s information system (Epicor Projects).

Ensure compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and MPI safety standards.

Participate in daily Lean meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
