Key Responsibilities
Money Services & Fintech Project Support
Advise on fintech and digital wallet launches, fintech integration, and other strategic payment platform initiatives.
Support partnerships with money transmitters and banks—in product rollout, state/federal licensing, remittance tax compliance, and regulatory change management.
Collaborate cross-functionally (Compliance, Investigations, Operations, Product, Tech) on fraud mitigation, marketing disclosures, and data privacy integrations.
Emerging Tech & AI in Financial Services
Advise on cutting-edge AI initiatives, including regulatory and privacy considerations for Walmart’s internal AI platforms, which supports thousands of AI applications company-wide.
Offer legal guidance for AI-driven financial tools—such as “super agents” (e.g., customer assistants like "Sparky")—that personalize user experiences and enhance payments, loyalty, and fintech engagement.
Counsel on the implementation of AI-powered fraud detection, risk management, and anomaly detection systems within financial services and fintech operations, ensuring compliance with data privacy and consumer protection laws.
Support legal structuring for AI-integrated fintech partners and platforms working with Walmart’s financial services, including identity verification, transaction monitoring, and tailored credit offerings.
Collaborate with technology, compliance, data privacy, and product teams to align AI innovations with regulatory requirements, including privacy, transparency, bias mitigation, and governance policies.
Regulatory, Compliance & E‑Signature Guidance
Provide counsel on domestic and inbound regulatory inquiries (CFPB, FTC, State AGs, state banks).
Ensure compliance with core consumer financial regulations—Reg E, Reg Z, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, UDAAP, AML/fraud, remittance laws, TCPA, EFTA, GLBA, and licensing regimes.
Advise on implementation of compliant electronic signature processes (E‑Sign Act, UETA, UCC) across lending, card issuance, digital onboarding, and disclosures.
Partner with data privacy and security teams to apply global privacy standards (GLBA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, Safeguards Rule) across financial services.
Supplier & Commercial Contracts
Analyze and manage supplier and partner agreements, addressing exclusivity, territorial/channel restrictions, affiliate data sharing, agent‑principal dynamics, and corporate governance for spending authority.
Draft and negotiate supplier contract amendments, statements of work, and new agreements to support initiatives such as digital wallets, co‑branded payment products, and recurring revenue programs.
Counsel to Business & Deal Desk Support
Provide live, practical legal advice during internal meetings and supplier negotiations for Money Services, Business Products, and fintech collaborations.
Lead contract drafting for new commercial agreements and platform integrations tied to global fintech products and e-commerce offerings.

What you'll bring:
Experience & Qualifications
8+ years of experience in legal roles supporting consumer financial services or fintech operations—either in-house or with a law firm.
Credit card experience desirable, including advising on card program structure, billing and dispute resolution, APR disclosures, fees, underwriting and co‑brand card models.
Deep expertise in Reg Z and Reg E in retail financial services contexts.
Strong background in banking regulation, including licensing, money transmitter laws, state and federal oversight.
Experience supporting digital wallet, payments, and fintech product development—guiding legal and regulatory aspects.
Experience at a financial regulator (e.g., CFPB, FTC, or state banking authority) or working with regulators provides a meaningful advantage.
Proven ability to translate legal risk into practical, business-focused advice.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and convey legal guidance to non-law audiences.
Practical judgment and a commercial mindset sharpened in fast-paced environments.

Hoboken, New Jersey US-10649:The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-30010:The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
