Job Description

As a Data Infrastructure Engineer at BlackVe, you will play a critical role in architecting, building, and operating the foundational data infrastructure that enables revolutionary enterprise-level insight and execution. You will define, lead, and oversee a team responsible for the development of data platforms, data processing, data architecture, and infrastructure and optimization. You will report to the Vice President of Advanced Development where you will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, technicians, and external stakeholders to ensure the successful optimization of enterprise data and insight. Areas of responsibility include designing and implementing enterprise data architecture, data pipelines, managing and optimizing databases and monitoring and ensuring data quality and performance. The ideal candidate will possess broad technical expertise, a strong desire for innovation, demonstrated skill in working with and leading cross-disciplinary teams, and skill in communicating complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences in both written and oral form. Key Responsibilities

  • Design enterprise data architecture, build, and maintain data infrastructure systems such as distributed compute, data orchestration, distributed storage, and streaming infrastructure while ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Ensure enterprise data platforms can scale reliably and securely.
  • Accelerate company productivity by empowering your colleagues with excellent data tooling and systems and provide best-of-class experience.
  • Bring new features and capabilities to the company by working closely with engineering, product, and production teams by enabling AI insights across the enterprise.
  • Singularly responsible for the reliability of the systems built.
  • Design and manage audit, quality, and reconciliation processes in collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Design, install, build, configure and deploy cloud database solutions based on technical and business requirements.
  • Implement database performance monitoring, fault monitoring and security monitoring in defined cloud environment.
  • Design and implement policies and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of previous experience deploying and administering large scale cluster and cloud computing tuned for development efforts in AI.
  • MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or EECE; or a BS (or equivalent experience).
  • Deep knowledge of distributed resource scheduling systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to script in bash, and at least one high-level language (Python preferred).
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, Singularity, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of operating systems, computer networks, and high-performance hardware.
  • Ability to work well with developers, hardware architects, & test engineers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment with a nationally distributed team.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to other company and customer locations periodically.
  • The ability to qualify for and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance is desired.
