Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI and other Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies will be vital for us to handle this opportunity.

Machine Intelligence, the combination of Machine Learning and other Artificial Intelligence technologies is what Ericsson uses to drive thought leadership to automate and transform Ericsson offerings and operations. MI is also a key competence for to enable new and emerging business. This includes development of models, frameworks and infrastructure where we in our advancements push the technology frontiers.

Ericsson is now looking for Senior Data Scientists to expand its AI Innovation & Incubation (AIII) team for our group in Bangalore and Chennai.

Role Summary:

Seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to lead the development, optimization, and deployment of foundation models and advanced AI/ML solutions. The role requires deep technical expertise with a focus on scalable model training, integration, and delivering robust AI-driven business outcomes.

What you will do:

• Design and maintain scalable, efficient data pipelines and AI/ML workflows for large-scale datasets.

Architect, develop, and deploy foundation models such as large AI models

• Develop and optimize model architectures, training regimes, and hyperparameters focused on performance and resource efficiency.
• Lead rigorous evaluation and experimentation to validate model accuracy, robustness, fairness, and bias mitigation.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate complex use cases into operational AI solutions.
• Implement model monitoring, versioning, and performance tracking in production environments.
• Integrate state-of-the-art AI research techniques into project workflows to drive continuous innovation.
• Optional: Telecom domain expertise to tailor models for telecom-specific data, and ISAC signal processing.

You will bring

Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from a reputable institution. A First Class degree is preferred.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML solution development with a focus on foundation models.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow; experience with libraries like Hugging Face Transformers is a plus.
• Strong experience building scalable data pipelines and employing distributed model training (e.g., using frameworks like Horovod or DeepSpeed).
• In-depth knowledge of ML concepts: supervised/unsupervised learning, representation learning, optimization algorithms, and performance metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to implement new algorithms and methodologies from leading research papers, assessing their scalability and viability for industrialization.
• Demonstrated ability to deploy models at scale with considerations for latency, throughput, and resource constraints.
• Solid problem-solving skills and capability to work autonomously on complex technical challenges
• Experience with unstructured data and advanced concepts like reasoning, causal AI, or building/fine-tuning foundation models is a significant plus

Leadership & Communication:

• Proven ability to lead projects end-to-end with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, with a track record of presenting technical findings to senior leadership and diverse audiences.
• Experience in writing and presenting white papers, journal articles, or technical blogs is a plus
