POSITION: Senior Data Scientist

LOCATION: Remote (San Antonio, Detroit, New Orleans)

HOURS: Full-Time, Non-Union. 40hrs/week

COMPENSATION: $110k - $130k (Commensurate with Experience)

ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead the end‑to‑end development and activation of machine learning models that influence our customer communications. This role sits at the intersection of advanced analytics, engineering, and marketing execution, with clear ownership from problem definition through to live, revenue‑driving deployment.
You will be responsible for designing and evolving our core modelling frameworks (e.g. propensity, recommendations, optimization), ensuring they are production‑ready, measurable, and tightly integrated into our CRM platform, Iterable. Working closely with CRM stakeholders, you will translate business problems into scalable, automated solutions that materially improve customer engagement and commercial outcomes.
This is a senior, hands‑on role with significant technical depth and strategic influence. You will set modelling standards, guide deployment approaches, and act as the technical authority for how machine learning is applied to maximize impact. You will directly manage a team of three and report into the Head of Customer & Marketing Analytics, playing a central role in shaping the long‑term automation and personalization roadmap across the US and UK. This role sets the direction for how machine learning is developed, deployed, and consistently activated across markets as we scale.


PEOPLE, PLACES, AND THINGS

  • Lead the development of core ML capabilities that underpin personalization and segmentation strategies.
  • Partner with Marketing and Engineering across the US and UK to define how machine learning underpins personalized customer communications.
  • Set standards for modelling, experimentation, and measurement to ensure impact is consistent, scalable, and repeatable.
  • Identify and deliver high value use cases where these capabilities materially improve engagement, conversion, and marketing efficiency.
  • Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, ML engineers, and data analysts, setting technical direction and delivery standards.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • 6+ years’ experience developing and deploying machine learning models or optimization systems in production.
  • Degree in a quantitative field in a quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering).
  • Proven ability to take models from design through to live activation, with clear ownership of performance, impact, and iteration.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing recommendation systems.
  • Strong experience defining experiment design, offline and online metrics, and success criteria for model evaluation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, applied ML frameworks, and cloud environments.
  • Hands‑on experience working with modern data stacks (e.g. Snowflake, dbt, AWS) and associated engineering practices (version control, orchestration, CI/CD).
  • Experience leading and developing teams, setting technical standards, and working closely with engineering and marketing stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and influence skills — capable of explaining technical trade-offs, model behaviors, and system constraints to both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Familiarity with customer engagement platforms (e.g. Iterable or similar), including API‑driven data ingestion, event tracking, and campaign activation.
