Job Purpose
The MEP Design Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing the
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design activities
for construction projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements, local authority regulations, budgets, and timelines. The role acts as the key technical interface between consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders during the design stages.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Coordination

Lead and manage all
MEP design activities
from concept through detailed design and construction stages.

Coordinate closely with
architectural, structural, civil, and specialist consultants
to ensure full design integration and clash-free outputs.

Review and approve MEP drawings, design calculations, specifications, and technical submittals.

Ensure designs comply with
local codes, authority regulations, international standards
, and client requirements.
Project & Stakeholder Coordination

Act as the primary point of contact for all
MEP design-related matters
with consultants, clients, and authorities.

Support the Project Manager with design programs, design deliverables, and milestone tracking.

Participate in design meetings, value engineering workshops, and authority coordination meetings.
Technical Leadership

Provide technical guidance and leadership to MEP engineers and designers.

Proactively identify design risks, conflicts, and technical challenges and propose effective solutions.

Support constructability reviews and coordinate with site teams during construction stages.
Cost & Value Engineering

Assist in MEP cost planning, budgeting, and value engineering exercises.

Propose optimized and cost-effective MEP solutions without compromising safety or performance.

Support tender reviews and technical evaluations related to MEP scope.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation

Ensure design quality, standardization, and compliance with project and company standards.

Maintain proper documentation, design records, and approvals.
-
Support commissioning, testing, and handover requirements from a design perspective.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
(Master’s degree is an advantage).

Minimum
10–15 years
of experience in MEP design within
construction / consultancy / EPC projects
.

Proven experience managing MEP design for
medium to large-scale projects
(commercial, residential, hospitality, infrastructure, mixed-use).

Strong knowledge of
MEP codes, standards, and authority requirements
(GCC/Middle East exposure preferred).
Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and coordination skills.

Excellent technical knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire & ELV systems.

Proficiency in
AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination tools
, and design review processes.

Good communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
