Senior Design Manager (Structural)

The project:

Mace is providing PMC services for this high-profile, mixed-use development designed to integrate residential, commercial, retail, and leisure components in Dubai.

As a senior design manager (structural), you will be seconded from Mace into a leading client-side development organisation. You will play a key role in overseeing the structural design development of major mixed-use and high-profile assets, ensuring delivery excellence throughout all project stages.

You will act as a trusted advisor to the client, providing clear structural design leadership, managing multidisciplinary interfaces, and ensuring all works align with the client’s vision, programme, commercial objectives and technical standards.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Direct and manage the structural design development across concept, schematic, detailed design and construction stages.

  • Review, challenge and guide consultant outputs to ensure structural solutions are robust, buildable and aligned with project objectives.

  • Drive technical coordination across architecture, MEP, façade, geotechnical, and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated design solutions.

  • Oversee structural design reviews, technical workshops, and design assurance processes.

  • Monitor and manage design progress against programme, ensuring timely delivery of key design stages and packages.

  • Act as a key interface between the client, consultants, and contractors, representing the client’s interests at all times.

  • Provide clear, informed structural advice to support design decisions, value engineering, risk management, and approvals.

  • Ensure all design activity aligns with the client’s development strategy, sustainability objectives, and delivery milestones.

  • Ensure full compliance with local authority standards, international codes, and client technical requirements.

  • Build strong working relationships with client teams, consultants, contractors, and internal Mace colleagues.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering (master's preferred).

  • Chartered or professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, IStructE) is desirable.

  • Proven track record delivering structural design management on large-scale mixed-use, commercial, or major development projects in the UAE.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability, with experience influencing senior stakeholders.
