Senior Designer (Furniture Dealer)

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to support the development and execution of commercial interior design projects, with experience on GSA contracts. This role collaborates closely with clients, sales partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless design, specification, and delivery process.

The Designer works independently on most projects and consults with the Design Director or Lead Designer on high-profile initiatives or when working with unfamiliar products. The ideal candidate brings strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate confidently with both clients and internal teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creative space planning and design services, using AutoCAD, CAP Studio, Worksheet, Visual Impressions and/or CET
  • Develop space plans, product application drawings, specifications, renderings and installation plans
  • Provide design support for the sales force and customers, including site and inventory verification, typical development, color boards, furniture presentations, installation drawings and specifications
  • Analyze and assess office furniture use and needs
  • Manage priorities and deadlines with the team
  • Maintain all project documents
  • Develop and offer improvements within the team/department to increase efficiencies, quality, consistency and accuracy
  • Maintain a live Project Design Log
  • Build relationships with customers

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrated experience working with GSA contracts
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of design experience in a commercial interior design firm or contract furniture dealership
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with CAP and/or CET programs (CAP2020 a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of commercial furniture materials, finishes, and assembly methods
  • Experience specifying Teknion products is strongly preferred
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex design challenges

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
  • Technical diploma will be considered only if accompanied by Teknion experience
  • State license is a plus but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS

  • Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to work in a climate-controlled office and showroom environment
  • Vision must be good or corrected to normal to perform job duties
  • Hearing must be sufficient to understand information required for job performance
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks
  • Occasional local travel and possible evening or weekend work to support customer needs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
