Pillar & Peacock is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our Alabama team. This is a leadership role for a creative, detail-oriented designer who thrives in high-end residential design and enjoys guiding projects from concept to completion. You’ll combine strong design vision with technical expertise, serve as the primary client liaison, and mentor junior designers—while ensuring that every detail meets both our firm’s standards and our clients’ expectations. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead luxury residential design projects through all phases: concept, space planning, construction administration, and installation.
  • Develop and present design concepts using 3D visualizations, renderings, sketches, and mood boards.
  • Create space plans, material palettes, and FF&E packages, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, vendor coordination, and client communication.
  • Prepare construction and design documentation with technical accuracy.
  • Lead client presentations, project meetings, and decision-making processes with professionalism and clarity.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering growth and accountability within the design team.
  • Administer contracts, oversee bidding/negotiation processes, and manage purchasing and approvals.
  • Conduct site visits, review submittals, manage punch lists, and troubleshoot during construction.
  • Balance multiple ongoing projects while maintaining a high level of design quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of residential interior design experience (luxury/high-end experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of InDesign required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • ASID membership (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with Dropbox, Slack, Google Suite, and Zoom helpful.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to lead projects independently while collaborating across teams and locations.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week).
  • Must be based in Florence, Huntsville, or Birmingham, AL.
  • Some travel required between project sites and offices.

  • Ability to work at a desk for prolonged periods, review drawings/documents, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., samples or presentation boards)
