Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Designer - Piping to join its Chennai team focusing on managing a large portfolio of projects in Oil & Gas.

This role will be based out of our Chennai office.

The Role

A Senior Designer - Piping design with the prime objective of undertaking piping design, proving the layout in a given area, carrying production, and checking of deliverables and supporting other aspects of the Piping and Plant Layout Group based on project requirements.

Pro-active and involved in originating and completing tasks, to enhance the overall team performance. Prepared to take on new tasks and guide others in new technical subjects / skills.

Responds positively to feedback from others and continues professional development through self-advancement and attending technical training for information on new technology and techniques and by keeping abreast of the Company and Group developments.

Identifies deficiencies and improvement changes to established design standards and procedures. Be able to action such improvements within scope of the role and / or raise these in the appropriate manner.

This opportunity is ideal for an individual who has previous experience within Piping and wants to be part of a dynamic project team working as part of an international service line.

The key objectives for this role are:

• Responsible for supporting the objectives of the Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality Policies and Information Security Management Policy by adhering to applicable Procedures and Work Practices while fulfilling of duties.
• Carrying out various piping activities and preparation of deliverables as identified in Functional Competencies as necessary on their appointed project.
• Signing drawing/documents as originator in accordance with correct procedures.
• Ensuring quality in design, technical accuracy in the preparation of drawings, material quantities, etc.
• Execution of assigned work in accordance with applicable contract procedure, client and project standards.
• Adhering to WIEPPL engineering procedures for design safety and adopting safe attitudes towards engineering design & raising features affecting the safety and integrity of the project with appropriate authorities.
• Correct implementation of all piping CAD and system related functions for their appointed area.

Expected:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Desirable).
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the detail engineering of process plants.
• Project / site experience of working in a variety of projects including grassroots, brownfield and revamp types.
• Sound knowledge of all general piping design, developing experience in the area of piping layout and phases of plot plan development.
• Some experience in site-based design in support of construction.
• Experienced and proficient in executing work using intelligent CAD systems
