Senior Developer – BigCommerce

Job Description:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 7+ years of professional experience in e-commerce development, with 4+ years of hands-on experience in BigCommerce.
• Proven expertise in BigCommerce theme and app development, including Stencil, BigCommerce CLI, and custom storefronts.
• Strong proficiency in React, Laravel, PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience with BigCommerce Multi-Storefront, B2B Edition, and Headless Commerce implementations.
• Solid understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, ERP/CRM integrations, and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern development workflows.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) and automated testing frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and uphold technical standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Lead the development and customisation of BigCommerce storefronts, themes, and apps across multiple client projects.

• Optimise site speed, SEO, and conversion funnels to maximise client ROI and user engagement.
• Stay ahead of platform updates, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously elevate Kensium’s BigCommerce capabilities.
• Highly proficient in BigCommerce Stencil, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and modern frontend frameworks.
• Experienced in building and scaling BigCommerce B2B and Multi-Storefront solutions, with a strong understanding of ecommerce architecture.
• A problem-solver who can translate business requirements into technical solutions that are robust and scalable.
• Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and mentoring junior developers.

Technical Expertise:

• Strong proficiency in Stencil theme development, custom app creation, and BigCommerce APIs.
• Proven experience building custom applications using React (frontend) and Laravel (backend).
• Deep understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices architecture, and ERP/CRM integrations.
• Skilled in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend/backend frameworks.
• Familiar with Git, Composer, BigCommerce CLI, and CI/CD pipelines.

Shopify Expertise:

• Strong experience with BigCommerce Stencil framework, including theme customization and performance optimization.
• Proficient in BigCommerce API integrations (Storefront API, Admin API, Checkout SDK).
• Experience with Headless Commerce setups using BigCommerce as a backend with custom React frontends.
• Familiarity with BigCommerce Multi-Storefront, B2B Edition, and custom checkout flows.
• Experience integrating BigCommerce with ERP, CRM, payment, and fulfillment systems.
• Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, and performance tuning for BigCommerce storefronts.

Innovation & AI-Driven Development:

• Experience using AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot / Cursor for code generation, validation, and optimization.
