Senior DevOps & SQL Server DBA (Always On / Failover Cluster Expert)

We are looking for an experienced DevOps + SQL Server Database Administrator who specializes in SQL Server High Availability (Always On Availability Groups), Windows Server Failover Clustering, and Cloud infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement a zero-downtime SQL Server environment where the application can continue running automatically if any server goes down.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced DevOps + SQL Server Database Administrator who specializes in SQL Server High Availability (Always On Availability Groups), Windows Server Failover Clustering, and Cloud infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement a zero-downtime SQL Server environment where the application can continue running automatically if any server goes down.

Responsibilities

SQL Server & High Availability

Set up SQL Server 2019/2022 on multiple Windows Servers

Configure Always On Availability Groups (AG)

Configure Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC)

Create and configure an AG Listener for .NET applications

Ensure automatic failover, synchronous replication, and zero downtime

Optimize SQL Server for performance and reliability

Set up database mirroring, backups, maintenance, and monitoring

Windows Server & Networking

Configure Active Directory Domain Services

Join servers to domain

Set up File Share Witness

Configure private network

Set firewall rules for secure communication

Cloud & Infrastructure

Deploy and configure servers (cloud or dedicated)

Implement HA best practices: redundancy, monitoring, fault tolerance

Document full architecture and setup steps

Application Integration

Create connection strings using AG Listener for .NET applications

Ensure seamless failover for production workloads

Work with the development team to validate integration

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Provide full written documentation

Provide after-setup support if required

Train team on monitoring and managing the cluster

Required Skills

Technical Expertise

Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016+

Deep knowledge of Always On AGs, WSFC, mirroring, replication

Strong Windows Server admin skills (2019/2022)

Active Directory & DNS configuration

PowerShell scripting for automation

Experience with cloud providers (Hetzner, AWS, Azure, GCP, OVH, etc.)

Networking: subnets, DNS, firewalls, load balancing

Experience Required

4–7+ years with SQL Server Administration

3+ years with Always On Availability Groups

Proven track record of setting up HA production environments

Experience handling DR/Backup solutions
