The YMCA of the North is seeking a Senior Director of Enterprise Architecture & Digital Enablement to serve as the enterprise steward for digital capability across one of the largest and most complex YMCA associations in the country. This leader will help shape how technology, architecture, and digital solutions come together to support staff, leaders, and mission delivery across Minnesota and western Wisconsin.


The salary range for this position is at $103,759 - 138,345 annually. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

In-Person Attendance Requirement:
Candidates must be located within reasonable commuting distance and able to adjust their schedule as needed to support regular, often daily, in-person collaboration.

1. Job Summary:

The Enterprise Architecture & Digital Enablement Senior Director operates in a complex, enterprise-wide digital and technology landscape and is accountable for shaping, sequencing, and translating our strategy into practical, working digital capability across the YMCA of the North. The incumbent is accountable for the effectiveness and evolution of the enterprise architecture and digital enablement program across the Y. This role blends hands-on technical leadership, enterprise architecture stewardship, and cross-functional partnership to improve how work gets done across the Y. The position focuses on reducing manual effort, strengthening enterprise data and integration foundations, governing architectural coherence, and enabling secure, scalable digital solutions that support staff, leaders, and mission delivery. Serve as the enterprise steward for architecture, integration, and digital enablement practices and provides senior-level advisory input on digital investment, platform evolution, and sequencing decisions. The position is enterprise in scope and succeeds through partnership, influence, and disciplined delivery rather than centralized control.


2. Essential Functions:

  • Partner with senior leaders across Finance, People and Culture, Operations, Strategy, Innovation, and Technology to translate enterprise priorities into executable digital and architectural solutions
  • Co-facilitate the development and evolution of the enterprise digital strategy in partnership with the Chief Business Officer and senior leadership
  • Lead, govern, and ensure enterprise-wide accountability for architecture alignment across platforms, initiatives, and investments
  • Define and evolve practical architectural principles, integration patterns, and guardrails that enable consistent, responsible solution delivery across the enterprise
  • Advise executive and senior leadership on digital investment sequencing, architectural trade-offs, and enterprise risk considerations
  • Provide architectural input into budgeting, modernization initiatives, and major platform decisions
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for enterprise architecture and digital enablement aligned to strategic priorities
  • Identify high-friction, manual, or fragile processes across the Y and design practical digital solutions to reduce workload and execution risk
  • Design, build, or guide the delivery of secure, scalable automations and integrations using low-code and integration platforms, applied selectively to high-impact use cases
  • Strengthen enterprise data foundations to support reliable reporting, dashboards, and data-informed decision-making
  • Foster integration across core platforms to improve data flow, reduce duplication, and eliminate single points of failure
  • Balance usability, security, governance, and risk in architectural and solution decisions
  • Improve documentation, knowledge sharing, and operational support readiness across teams
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Mentor and support staff and partners on architecture, integration, automation, and digital best practices

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief Business Officer and holds enterprise-wide accountability for architectural coherence and enablement standards. The incumbent serves as a senior enterprise advisor to executive and senior leadership teams on digital capability, architecture alignment, and platform evolution. The role partners closely with Innovation and Digital leadership; Technology, Data, and Security teams; Finance; People and Culture; Operations; Strategy; and platform owners across the enterprise. The position works collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver enterprise-scale digital outcomes and ensure alignment across multiple functions and locations.


4. Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of ten (10) of progressive experience in enterprise technology engineering, architecture, digital delivery, or related leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at the enterprise level across multiple platforms and functional domains.
  • Strong grounding in enterprise architecture concepts, integration patterns, and data architecture.
  • Hands-on experience designing or delivering digital solutions, automations, and integrations.
  • Experience working within a Microsoft-centered ecosystem, including platforms for automation, integration, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing senior leaders and shaping enterprise-level decisions.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical designs, roadmaps, and delivery plans.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex, evolving environments with competing priorities.

Preferred

  • Advanced experience with low-code automation and integration platforms.
  • Experience improving enterprise reporting, analytics, or data platforms.
  • Exposure to security, risk, and governance considerations in digital and automation solutions.
  • Experience in nonprofit, mission-driven, or similarly complex organizations.
  • Bi/multilingual.

5. Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel to various YMCA locations.
  • Ability to respond to critical issues after normal business hours when needed.
