Senior Director – GTM Excellence, Technology Industry Group (TIG)- Private Equity

A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) practice, with offices throughout the US, focuses on serving upper middle market and large cap private equity firms who have engaged A&M to help improve operating results at their portfolio companies. The companies we assess are in the upper middle market 50 million to 1 billion plus range.

What will you be doing?

Our GTM Excellence offering within the Technology Industry Group (TIG) brings a structured and disciplined approach to create and capture value. We provide corporate and equity buyers with a broad continuum of knowledge and tools for performance improvement, mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, joint ventures, and alliances.

The team works across the full spectrum of the deal and company lifecycle, from pre-deal commercial diligence and operational reviews to post-deal implementations and performance improvement. Our projects often include evaluation of, or initiatives related to, go-to-market operating models, sales effectiveness, pricing optimization, and customer segmentation, which requires an understanding of revenue growth levers and operational execution.

Engagement types and responsibilities include:

  • Lead or support GTM diligence workstreams during M&A and growth strategy engagements
  • Evaluate sales and marketing operating models, including customer segmentation, pricing models, and channel effectiveness, to determine alignment with business strategy
  • Assess revenue growth opportunities by analyzing customer acquisition strategies, retention metrics, and product-market fit
  • Conduct interviews with senior leadership, including CROs, CMOs, and sales leaders, to identify gaps in GTM strategy, sales execution, or marketing effectiveness
  • Engage during the pre-acquisition diligence phase to evaluate sales effectiveness, marketing ROI, pricing strategies, and organizational structures
  • Develop Day-1 and 100-day plans to drive performance improvements across critical areas such as sales enablement, pricing optimization, customer segmentation, and channel management
  • Execute merger integration and carve-out strategies, managing critical path workstreams to ensure seamless separation or integration of GTM functions
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives in sales and marketing while maintaining or improving revenue performance
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to optimize revenue and margin performance

Qualifications:

  • 14 – 20+ years of experience in roles such as Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, Revenue Operations Lead, or GTM Strategy/Ops Consultant, preferably in mid to large companies.
  • Exposure to private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, or related transaction/merger integration is a bonus.
  • Proven experience in building or evaluating GTM strategies, including customer segmentation, pricing models, and sales enablement.
  • Experience contributing to or leading revenue growth initiatives, whether internally (e.g., sales optimization, pricing strategy) or externally (e.g., M&A integration planning).
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional teamwork required to deliver high-quality results on time and within scope.
  • Ability to analyze sales and marketing spend patterns and link them to revenue outcomes.
  • Familiarity with pricing optimization models, customer segmentation, and channel management strategies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of sales and marketing tools, including CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and marketing automation tools.
  • Deep functional expertise in one or more of the following areas is a bonus:
    • Sales Enablement or Revenue Operations
    • Pricing Strategy and Optimization
    • Customer Segmentation and Retention Strategies
    • Private Equity Advisory around GTM functions
  • Comfortable engaging with senior leadership and clearly articulating findings to executive and private equity stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, curious, and a quick learner.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; excellent communication abilities.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%

The base salary range is $175,000 - $250,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
