Senior Director, Logistics & Distribution

Key Responsibilities:

1. Regional Logistics Leadership & Strategy

• Own logistics strategy for North America (U.S. & Mexico) aligned with global standards.
• Translate global supply chain objectives into a scalable North American logistics operating model .
• Act as senior logistics partner to plant managers, EHS leaders, procurement, and sales .
• Lead annual planning for freight spend, capacity, service levels, and risk mitigation .

2. Network Design & Distribution Excellence

Core North American Footprint

Texas / Gulf Coast (Primary Hub)

• Manufacturing-adjacent warehouses supporting bulk and packaged chemicals
• ISO tank, railcar, and tank truck operations
• Hazardous and temperature-controlled storage
• Port-centric export flows via Port of Houston

United States

• Midwest DC
• Domestic distribution, blending, repackaging, and consolidation
• East Coast DC
• Imports, specialty chemicals, and customer-facing DG outbound

Mexico

• Cross-border logistics hub
• USMCA flows, packaging, export documentation, DG compliance

Responsibilities

• Optimise multi-modal logistics flows (truck, rail, sea; limited air) based on cost, service, and DG constraints.
• Lead network modelling (hub strategy, buffer locations, near-port warehousing).
• Partner with Procurement on carrier strategy (FTL/LTL, rail, bulk, ISO tanks, parcel).
• Standardise packaging, labelling, segregation, and storage across regulated chemical products.

3. 3PL, Carrier & Warehouse Governance

• Own governance of 3PL, warehousing, rail, and trucking partners across North America.
• Establish performance scorecards, QBRs, audits, and escalation frameworks .
• Lead regional freight tenders and contract negotiations.
• Ensure strong oversight of DG-certified carriers, tank operators, and chemical warehouses .

4. Digitalisation, Visibility & Performance Management

• Lead North American rollout and optimisation of TMS integrated with SAP S/4HANA .
• Deliver real-time shipment visibility (exceptions, temperature, dwell, documentation).
• Build dashboards covering OTIF, freight cost, warehouse utilisation, detention/demurrage, and CO₂ emissions .
• Embed data-driven logistics decision-making at site and regional level.

5. Compliance, Risk & Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with U.S. DOT, EPA, OSHA, IMDG, IATA DGR, TSCA , and applicable Mexican regulations.
• Act as senior escalation point for DG incidents, audits, and corrective actions .
• Drive sustainability initiatives:
• Modal shift (truck-to-rail where feasible)
• Network consolidation
• Improved load utilisation
• Emissions reporting and reduction targets
• Partner with EHS and ESG teams on audits, incident investigations, and corrective action plans.
