Job overview

  • The Senior Director, Performance Management & Operational Excellence, will be accountable for activity related to Business Performance Management and Operational Excellence across the operating companies and group in addition to also providing executive management support to HOD.

  • The role oversees several responsibilities.

  • Oversight of the group performance management team in driving operating companies (and Group) performance to ensure targets are achieved

  • End to end performance management framework and processes (data, reporting, reviews, follow ups etc…)

  • Support HOD in proactively identifying key performance trends/risks/mitigations and implementing corrective initiatives/actions to ensure delivery of key targets

  • Responsible for ensuring that key initiatives are tracked and implemented effectively in support of business plans/AOP targets (i.e bankable plans/targets etc…)

  • Drive operational excellence best practices covering knowledge sharing, systems and performance.

  • Maintain reporting systems and analytical tools

  • Role will support the operational management team in ensuring proactive performance management and operational excellence are embedded as standard practice within the OG functions and OpCo's

  • Role will also represent HOD when not available environment that drives aligned to the future strategic ambitions of Ooredoo.

Your impact on our goals

  • The Senior Director, Performance Management & Operational Excellence is responsible for providing executive, strategic and operational management support to Executive Director, DGCEO Office & Business Operations and the main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the performance management team and driving business performance management activities/framework/process for group wide performance management across operating companies (including initiative tracking driving AOP and value creation e.g. Wave, PowerBI etc…)

  • Responsible for regular proactive performance analysis and initiative review (AOP) of each operation and the market in which it operates, identifying correlation/trends/risks/mitigations and areas of opportunity (both forward and backward analysis) and working with ED, DGCEO Office & Business Operations to proactively manage.

  • Track overall progress of performance management & related initiatives, keeping track of any changes to cadence, correcting if required to ensure discipline is maintained. (maintain high level overview of each OpCo's performance pipeline and act accordingly).

  • Oversee OpCo CEO's/CxO's engagement on performance related turnaround initiatives/actions.

  • Work with OG functional teams identifying in market opportunity, problem solving and identifying appropriate corrective actions (tracking to ensure realisation)

  • Responsible for Group and OpCo performance reporting taking into account the strategic context of the Group as well as each OpCo (overall performance, including aspects such as bankable plans, strategic initiatives etc…)

  • Responsible for performance based systems such as PowerBI, Wave etc…. (adoption and operating tool, not support) - ensuring systems are effectively operated to support performance management

  • Oversee monthly and quarterly pre alignments/problem solving sessions with OG functions (and OpCo as required), identifying opportunity, risks and mitigations to ensure proactive performance management cadence

  • Responsible for ensuring quality and effectiveness of monthly and quarterly OpCo performance reviews (end to end covering performance, initiatives tracking etc…)

  • Own and drive complex BC analysis, input and recommendation on group wide key strategic investments impacting OpCo and Group performance.

  • Lead improvement of existing processes/efficiencies for continued business and operational excellence evolution related to performance management, reporting and data digitization.

  • Lead the definition and setting of Group/OpCo KPI's, and Group and OpCo strategic initiatives in close coordination with Group Strategy, Finance and other functions as required.

  • Collaborate across organization/opcos through sharing key learnings and best practices and actively seek innovative value levers whilst challenging the status quo.

  • Own monitoring implementation and reporting on progress of corrective measures, turn around programmes and strategic initiatives/AOP i.e. Wave etc

  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and technical expertise to the global organization and own team in order to embed best practices within Performance Management across the Group

  • Support with management of any governance or performance related activities under the management of the DGCEO office that may be required.

  • Responsible for co-ordination and support in closing Group Internal Audit points as assigned

  • Support Opex and Capex efficiency programmes as required and assigned by HOD

  • Responsible for additional systems efficiency developments as required (digital optimisation)

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 18 years total work experience, of which at least 8 years should be at senior executive level preferably in a global telecom.

  • Extensive experience in the Telecom sector in large progressive international companies (commercial, financial etc...)

  • Strong demonstrable cross functional financial, commercial and operational (tech) analytical experience is essential (must deep able to demonstrate strong cross functional/business analytical understanding)

  • Strong strategic orientation and business performance, business operations and operational excellence knowledge

  • Cultural sensitivity and in-depth knowledge of the various telecom markets

  • Good insight on the industry trends and its likely business impact.

  • Sound business judgment to ensure cultural aspirations are well integrated in performance improvement activities

  • Sufficient financial knowledge to understand business cases and consequences on P&L, balance sheet and cash flow

  • Ability to coach and train, including conducting group and one to one training
