Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Purpose

To lead and oversee all electrical construction activities on-site, ensuring electrical systems are executed in full compliance with approved designs, specifications, authority regulations, and quality standards. The Senior Electrical Engineer manages the Electrical Engineers (Inspectors), provides technical leadership, and ensures safe, high-quality, and timely delivery of all electrical works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Oversight & Review
  • Review and approve electrical shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
  • Ensure compliance with project design intent, electrical codes, and authority regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to Electrical Engineers (Inspectors).
  • Coordinate with design consultants on clarifications and design modifications.
  • Site Supervision & Monitoring
  • Oversee all electrical site activities including power systems, lighting, ELV, and infrastructure works.
  • Ensure construction follows approved drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor inspection activities carried out by Electrical Engineers (Inspectors).
  • Verify testing and commissioning procedures for electrical systems.
  • Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
  • Implement QA/QC procedures for electrical works across the project.
  • Review inspection reports and non-conformance records.
  • Ensure corrective actions are properly implemented.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and material quality.
  • Compliance & Authority Coordination
  • Ensure full compliance with DEWA, Etihad Water & Electricity, and relevant authority requirements.
  • Coordinate authority inspections and approvals.
  • Resolve regulatory or compliance-related issues.
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to resolve interface issues.
  • Lead electrical coordination meetings.
  • Act as the primary electrical liaison between client, contractor, and consultant.
  • Report critical risks, delays, or deviations to project management.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting
  • Monitor progress of electrical works against the project schedule.
  • Review and validate site inspection reports.
  • Provide periodic progress reports to project leadership.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all electrical activities.
  • Problem Solving & Technical Leadership
  • Review and respond to RFIs related to electrical works.
  • Provide practical technical solutions to site challenges.
  • Recommend design or construction improvements when needed.
  • Final Inspection & Handover
  • Lead final electrical inspections and snagging.
  • Ensure electrical systems meet project requirements before handover.
  • Support preparation of as-built documentation and closeout records.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering

Professional Certifications: Relevant professional certifications are preferred

Experience: 10 – 15 years of electrical engineering experience

Strong experience in construction supervision projects, particularly in Gulf countries, preferably in the UAE

Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of UAE electrical codes and authority regulations

Strong QA/QC and commissioning expertise

Ability to review complex electrical systems and drawings

Soft Skills / Competencies: Leadership, decision-making, strong coordination skills, communication, problem-solving, attention to quality and safety
