The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and supervising electrical works for MEP construction projects. The role ensures all electrical systems are executed according to project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, and local authority regulations. The Senior Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership, manages project execution, and coordinates with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise electrical works for MEP projects from initiation to completion.
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
- Prepare shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with other MEP disciplines and civil teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and local authority regulations.
- Monitor project progress, productivity, and quality standards.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues during execution.
- Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Prepare project schedules, manpower plans, and material requirements.
- Supervise testing, commissioning, and handover activities of electrical systems.
- Ensure implementation of health, safety, and quality procedures on-site.
- Review and approve work completed by subcontractors and site teams.
- Support project cost control and monitor material wastage.
- Mentor junior engineers, supervisors, and foremen.
- Prepare progress reports and maintain project documentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in MEP/construction projects.
- Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer in commercial, residential, hotel, hospital, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, ELV systems, fire alarm systems, and low-current systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management tools.
- Ability to review and coordinate MEP drawings and technical submissions.
- Strong understanding of local authority regulations and international electrical standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.
