Senior Electrical Engineer - SEWA Certified

Job Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems while ensuring all works strictly adhere to SEWA regulations and international safety standards. This role acts as the primary technical link between the consultancy/contractor and the Authority.

Core Responsibilities1. Authority Liaison & Compliance

• SEWA Approvals: Prepare and submit electrical drawings, load schedules, and technical specifications for SEWA approval.
• Inspections: Coordinate and attend site inspections with SEWA engineers for permanent power connection and building completion certificates (BCC).
• Regulation Monitoring: Stay updated on the latest SEWA circulars regarding metering standards, cable specifications, and green building regulations.

2. Technical Design & Engineering

• System Design: Design LV/MV panels, lighting systems, lightning protection, and earthing systems.
• Load Calculations: Perform complex electrical load calculations and voltage drop analysis.
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD): Develop and review detailed SLDs and shop drawings for substations and distribution boards.

3. Project Management

• Subcontractor Oversight: Supervise electrical subcontractors to ensure work quality meets project specifications.
• Procurement: Review technical submittals for electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables) to ensure they are from SEWA-approved manufacturers.
• Testing & Commissioning: Lead the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all electrical installations.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Certification: Valid SEWA Card/Certification (Grade A or B depending on project scale).
• Experience: 10+ years in the UAE construction industry, with a deep understanding of Sharjah-specific building codes.
• Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Dialux (for lighting), and ETAP or Amtech (for calculations).
