SENIOR ENGINEER - A-2D AND 3D-S3D ELECTRICAL DESIGNER - 1455- SRNS- Aiken, SC

JOB SUMMARY:
Develop designs for complex engineering systems. Prepare drawings and technical reports. Participate in the development of design standards and procedures. Perform technical reviews of design documents and specifications. Provide engineering services and support to construction activities.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and review design standards and procedures. Prepare construction installation specifications and details. Prepare procurement specifications and bid analysis. Review and approve Design Change Forms. Resolve existing design discrepancies with the most cost-effective approach to meet design criteria. Initiate Design Change Forms and coordinate with Subcontractors or other responsible group for approval/incorporation. Provide dispositions to Nonconformance Reports and Field Problem Memos by determining a solution to the condition which will satisfy design criteria. Perform inspections by facilities, systems, or components as required for proper evaluation of conditions. Review construction procedures to ensure compliance with design engineering criteria and applicable codes. Perform in-depth analysis of advanced technical concepts and devises new approaches to technical problems.

WORK HOURS: A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education: An associates degree in a technical discipline and at least 10 - 12 years’ work experience or 12 - 16 years of practical work experience.

Experience:
Requires an in-depth knowledge of engineering systems, applications, calculations, materials, construction methods, and relevant computer applications. Applies advanced principles and practices in engineering to resolve problems identified by construction organizations in a timely manner. Continued updating on new technologies and hardware in the industry is necessary.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
