JOB PURPOSE
To provide engineering and technical support to the maintenance team/Project team in order to maximize the reliability, availability and performance of the Power Plant equipment in the Electrical system for Gas Turbine, Steam Turbines and Steam and water cycles system and the electrical generation and distribution system.
RESPONSIBILIT
2.1 Implement sustainable maintenance system

Stage, plan and direct and trouble shoot/repair activities for making the Power plant equipment reliable.

Monitor process information based on the operating condition, collect, organize and interpret/analyze data. Investigate and determine assignable cause for the performance discrepancies, equipment failures/defects and develop a strategies and remedies for elimination or control. This includes root cause analysis(RCA) and implementations of action from the RCA. Be the custodian of the electrical technical expertise

Give advice/make changes using the change management system in terms of various modifications and analyze the improvement on the overall effectiveness of the technical suitability to the plant equipment in consultation with Electrical Superintendent

Participate and sometimes lead regularly the work teams to develop and improve maintenance procedures and best maintenance practices and solve various problems in the combined cycle Power Plant and water& steam cycle's system

Monitor PM check sheets and analyze for any non-compliance and abnormalities and advise the Supervisor for corrective action and keep Electrical Superintendent informed of all such deviations

Review PMs from time to time and advise optimization of PMs based on the behavior of the running plant

Work out long term Asset management strategy in liaison with Electrical Superintendent and plan the equipment non routine maintenance to ensure the long term assert integrity

Plan, budget, scheduling and execution of minor/major overhaul of the Gas and Steam turbines apart from executing preventive and predictive maintenance practice to optimize the availability and reliability of plant equipment’s with proper risk analysis

2.2 Action the SA Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures to ensure safety and compliance

Apply 5S principles and procedures

Apply the SA authorization and escalation procedures, for example

Participate in weekly EHS meetings and plant safety rounds

.Understand isolation, lockout and tag out procedures related power plant process and equipment

Clear understanding and adherence recommendation on Material Safety Data Sheets while working on Chemical systems Action Safety inductions for visitors and contractors in coordination with Planning

Understand lockout and tag out process and electrical equipment and getting authorized to receive safety documents to execute Jobs

Propagate safe behavior in team members and contractors by carrying out Leadership contact
2.3 Audit Systems and Processes

Conduct audits optimally to identify any issues related to equipment obsolescence and action items identified

Participate in audits and maintain all records for the purpose of external audit review. Close all CAPA actions based on the non- conformance from audit
2.4 Train and develop others to build Technicians’ technical capability and to deliver an improvement in area performance

Analyze training requirement for the section, develop internal and external training plans

Coach and mentor technicians in taking complex problems and solving various issues in the control and instrumentation system of the plant

Co-ordinate and conduct trainings
-
Provide expert supporting the training of new employees, Technician Engineers, Technicians and Trainee Technicians

Coach and guide Trainee Technicians, Technicians, technical Engineers and Field Engineers
2.5 To Provide Engineering and Technical Sup p ort to Maintenance Team/Project Team/Engineering Tea
-
Deliver day-to-day technical support for break-down diagnostics and attendance for high priority jobs.
-
Investigate significant electrical equipment/system failures, identify chronic technical issues and propose/implement technical solutions to minimize plant down times.
-
Serve as an excellent reference for all electrical systems in Powerplant and including the generation and distribution/transmission system.

Support Project and Engineering teams by providing constructive inputs for Projects when required.
2.6 Maintenance Administration
-
Identify external service requirement, Prepare scope, estimate cost, initiate procurement action and follow up till completion.

Annual maintenance budget preparation, Major Overhaul planning and execution
-
Spares requirement evaluation and procurement initiation.
REQUIREMENTS
-
Degree in Electrical Engineering with 6 years of relevant maintenance experience
-
Understanding of KKS power plant designation system
-
Knowledge of reliability analysis techniques
-
In depth technical knowledge of electrical system used in large powerplant specially with Alstom Generator, 220KV GIS, Static frequency converter, static excitation system, relay co-ordination, fault level calculation , VFD, PLC, transformer, generator & line protection

Good knowledge and understanding of the HV/MV/LV systems and the control & protection system
-
Strong knowledge of the Power and RO Plant function and business objectives including organizational structure and decision- making processes, business needs and constraints, budget, planning, legal and public relations constraints
-
In depth knowledge of condition monitoring of electrical equipment
-
In depth knowledge of performing remaining life assessment of major/ critical equipment used in power plant
-
In depth knowledge of performing internal audit of electrical systems to comply it with quality and health & safety system requirement.

Exposure to mechanical, electrical and operational aspects of combined cycle power generation
-
Knowledge of reliability analysis techniques
-
Good understanding of the Departmental business, including the production processes, production economics, organizational structure and decision-making processes, business needs and constraints, budget, planning, legal and public relations constraints. This knowledge is critical as it enables the Engineer to design and deliver solutions that work for the business and deliver superior ROI
