The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for construction or engineering projects by analyzing plans and specifications, managing the bid process, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and advising project teams on cost-related matters. This role is key to ensuring timely, competitive, and compliant bid submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for projects.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of bid proposals, tenders, and preconstruction budgets.
  • Develop project cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. • Solicit, review, and negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs using digital tools or manual methods as appropriate.
  • Identify risks, inconsistencies, and value engineering opportunities in project documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients during the preconstruction phase.
  • Ensure estimates are aligned with company goals, client requirements, and current market trends.
  • Maintain and update historical cost data, unit pricing, and estimating databases.Mentor and support junior estimators and other team members.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations when required.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, CostX, ProEst, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and industry practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
  • Professional certifications (e.g., AACE, RICS, or similar) are an advantage.
