Civil Estimator Responsibilities1. Tender Preparation and Analysis
- Review Tender Documents: Study tender drawings, specifications, conditions of the contract, and related circulars and documents.
- Quantity Measurement: Accurately measure quantities as per tender drawings and specifications.
- Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Prepare detailed BOQs aligned with tender documents and project requirements.
- Take-offs: Calculate quantities of structural components such as footings, pedestals, columns, beams, and slab reinforcements based on project plans.
2. Subcontractor and Vendor Coordination
- Inquiry Preparation: Develop and issue tender packages for subcontractors, including BOQs, specifications, and drawings.
- Quotation Review: Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Subcontractor Payments: Review and certify payment applications and issue payment certificates for subcontractors.
3. Project Coordination and Management
- Client Liaison: Effectively communicate with clients and professional subcontractors to understand project requirements and ensure alignment.
- Resource Management: Coordinate with Project Managers to allocate resources, equipment, and materials efficiently.
- Schedule Adherence: Organize workloads and manage subcontractors to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within the schedule.
4. Quality Assurance and Inspection
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve issues such as design changes, material shortages, or unexpected site conditions.
- Compliance Checks: Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with required standards and project specifications.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Project Records: Maintain accurate documentation of all project-related activities, including costs, schedules, and construction progress.
- Inspection Requests: Prepare and document inspection requests, RFIs (Requests for Information), delivery orders, and daily progress reports.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor construction progress and ensure timely communication with consultants and stakeholders.
6. Financial and Risk Management
- Cost Analysis: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for projects.
- Budget Control: Ensure projects are completed within budget by managing subcontractor costs and project expenditures.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks and implement measures to mitigate them during the estimation and project execution phases.
