Key Responsibilities:
1. Dispensing & Patient Care
- Accurately dispense medications as per the doctor’s prescription.
- Verify dosage, route, and duration of medicines before issuing.
- Counsel patients regarding correct medicine usage, side effects, and storage when required.
- Ensure no substitution of drugs without doctor’s consent.
2. Inventory & Procurement Management
- Maintain adequate stock levels of medicines, consumables, and urology-specific drugs (e.g., antibiotics, hormonal drugs, irrigation fluids, disposables, etc.).
- Monitor expiry dates and manage near-expiry or short-expiry items.
- Prepare and share reorder lists based on consumption and lead time.
- Coordinate with purchase and accounts teams for timely indenting and vendor payments.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain all pharmacy records as per Drugs and Cosmetics Act and FDA regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation of narcotic and Schedule H drugs.
- Support periodic audits (internal/external) and ensure compliance with hospital and statutory norms.
- Maintain billing and dispensing records accurately in hospital software.
4. Coordination & Support
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and procurement staff to ensure smooth medication supply.
- Support inpatient and outpatient pharmacy needs.
- Assist during night shifts or emergencies to provide immediate drug availability.
- Participate in drug formulary reviews and cost optimization initiatives.
5. Quality & Safety
- Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, segregation).
- Implement FIFO/FEFO methods for stock handling.
- Report and record any medication errors or adverse drug reactions.
- Adhere to infection control and hospital safety policies.
