Senior Family Law Attorney

The Opportunity

Johnson Law Group, LLC is a growing, multi-state family law firm headquartered in Colorado with offices in Colorado, Wyoming, Illinois, and Florida. We are opening a new office in Albuquerque, New Mexico and seeking an experienced family law attorney to lead the launch and build our New Mexico practice.

This is a leadership-level role. You will serve as the lead attorney for our Albuquerque office with full practice authority over the firm’s New Mexico operations. You will manage your own caseload and client relationships with the backing of an established firm—including full back-office support, modern case management technology, significant marketing investment, and operational resources.

If you are a family law attorney with an established reputation in the Albuquerque metro area or broader Bernalillo County who wants the autonomy of running your own practice without the overhead and isolation of going solo, this role was built for you.

What We Offer

Competitive base salary with origination and performance bonuses (total compensation $120K–$170K+)
Full practice authority — you lead the firm’s New Mexico practice with decision-making responsibility

Marketing investment — the firm will invest in Google LSAs, SEO, legal directories, and video content for the Albuquerque market

Colorado adjacency — collaborate closely with the firm’s Colorado team, share resources, and refer cases across state lines

What We’re Looking For

Required

Licensed and in good standing with the New Mexico State Bar
Minimum 5 years of substantive family law experience (divorce, custody, property division, modifications, domestic violence)
Trial and hearing experience in New Mexico family courts, particularly Bernalillo County
Existing client relationships and portable book of business (20+ cases)
Comfortable operating with autonomy while collaborating remotely with firm leadership

Strongly Preferred

○ Experience with complex property division including community property issues under New Mexico law

○ Established referral relationships with local attorneys, mediators, and financial professionals

○ Portable book of business generating $450K+ annually

○ Experience managing or mentoring junior attorneys or paralegals

○ Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills (strongly valued given Albuquerque demographics)

○ Familiarity with Clio or similar cloud-based practice management software
