About the Role

Global Security Services (GSS) is seeking a multifaceted professional to lead a comprehensive federal travel compliance engagement. This role blends transaction-level file auditing, enterprise-level internal controls assessment, and executive reporting. You will serve as the principal subject matter expert, ensuring agency travel practices align with the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) while providing actionable insights to improve program-level policies and business processes.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Transaction Review: Perform transaction-level travel compliance reviews and detailed analysis of travel authorizations, claims, receipts, and supporting records. Determine whether travel is adequately documented, properly approved, reasonable, and necessary. Identify and clearly document unsupported, duplicate, improper, or questionable travel costs.

  • Internal Controls Assessment: Evaluate travel-related internal controls, business processes, policy alignment, and documentation retention practices. Translate file-level findings into program-level insights, distinguishing recurring issues caused by process design from isolated documentation failures.
  • Process Improvement: Draft evidence-based recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze travel data to identify trends, anomalies, recurring deficiencies, and cost savings opportunities. Convert review activity and findings into clear, structured outputs, including analytical summaries, recurring issue analysis, and executive-level briefs.
  • Tracking & Documentation: Maintain the central issues, findings, and improvement log to support ongoing management priorities.

Qualifications

Direct experience reviewing travel authorizations, claims, and supporting documentation within a federal environment.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) and related compliance standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Consistent, criteria-based review capability across large sets of travel transactions , combined with the ability to connect transaction-level findings with enterprise-level improvement strategies.
  • Reporting Expertise: Proven experience preparing analytical summaries and executive-level reporting. Strong writing and synthesis skills for compliance and oversight environments , with the ability to translate detailed review outputs into concise, actionable leadership information.
