Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant

About the Role
  • Lead the financial planning process and related reporting and analysis for Ashley Furniture
  • Develop key strategic and financial reporting tools for operations and senior management
  • Direct a team of financial analysts supporting budget, reporting, and analysis functions
  • Partner with location controllers, accountants, general managers, and lead vice presidents on financial performance and profit improvements



What You'll Do:

Financial Planning & Analysis Leadership
  • Lead the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes
  • Continuously improve financial planning processes and procedures
  • Monitor monthly results and compare with business objectives and plans
  • Report key variances with supportive action plans
  • Prepare presentations for senior management on business results, budgets, forecasts, and focus areas
  • Oversee monthly financial results and metrics reporting to owners and executive team



Performance Monitoring & Analysis
  • Monitor divisional, location, and functional area performance results
  • Track cost savings, reductions, and improvement initiatives
  • Develop key financial and analytical measures for operations and senior management
  • Improve financial reporting formats to present results and trends effectively
  • Work with business leaders to ensure understanding of metrics and financial results



Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and direct a team of approximately 3-4 financial analysts
  • Make employment decisions including hiring, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, and pay adjustments
  • Coordinate and manage team work to meet departmental goals
  • Manage employee performance through coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews
  • Recommend, plan, and implement employee training and skill development activities
  • Conduct weekly team meetings and regular individual employee meetings
  • Audit regularly to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Maintain accurate employee time-keeping and absentee records



Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and improve departmental performance measures using Continuous Improvement tools
  • Improve working conditions and processes (safety, quality, productivity, cost)
  • Direct employees to participate in improvement programs
  • Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials



Additional Responsibilities
  • Support and ensure Ashley Furniture policies and procedures are followed
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and education
  • Assist with training other employees and provide backup coverage
  • Complete other assignments and special projects as requested



What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3+ years of related accounting/finance experience
  • Moderate domestic travel capability
  • Flexible schedule with willingness to work extended hours when necessary

  • Strong financial accounting knowledge
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound mathematical and statistical skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats
  • Record management expertise
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints
