Location: Aberdeen, MD; Onsite 60-80%

Reports To: Director of Finance

Job Type: Full-time

Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI (able to process, US citizenship is a must)

Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Senior Financial Analyst to join our program finance team. As a key partner to our Program Managers and Technical Leads, you will provide comprehensive financial oversight for complex contract financials. This role goes beyond simple reporting; you will act as a business advisor, ensuring strict compliance with government regulations (FAR/DFARS), planning, monitoring and report transactions, and optimizing contract performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on user of Deltek or Unanet who enjoys digging into the data, mentoring junior staff, and driving financial accuracy across a diverse portfolio of contract types (CPFF, FFP). As LufCo continues to grow and evolve our portfolio, we are looking for someone who embraces new systems and AI tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Financial Management & Analysis
    • Manage the full financial lifecycle of assigned contracts, including Cost Plus (CPFF/CPIF), Firm Fixed Price (FFP), and Time & Materials (T&M) contract types.
    • Partner with Program Managers to develop annual and period plans, monthly forecasts, and Estimates to Complete (ETC/EAC).
    • Conduct variance analysis (Actuals vs. Budget/Forecast) and provide actionable insights to program leadership to mitigate risks.
    • Coordinate directly with project teams to ensure proper labor charging, expense allocation, and resource planning.
  • Material & Supply Chain Finance
    • Oversee financial tracking of material transactions and inventory for integration projects, ensuring accurate cost recognition and billing.
    • Monitor Open Commitments and Open Purchase Orders to ensure accurate accruals and cash flow forecasting.
    • Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to reconcile bill of materials (BOM) costs against program budgets.
  • Compliance, Reporting & Invoicing
    • Ensure strict adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) across all financial activities.
    • Track and manage contract reporting requirements (CDRLs) to ensure timely submission of financial data to government customers.
    • Review and approve billing/invoices prior to submission, ensuring alignment with contract terms and prompt payment.
    • Support internal and external audits (DCAA/DCMA) by maintaining pristine financial records and documentation.
  • Systems & Mentorship
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for the company's ERP system (Deltek Costpoint or Unanet), ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
    • Mentor and train junior financial analysts, providing guidance on government contracting nuances, Excel modeling, and compliance standards.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial reporting processes and reduce cycle times.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or program control within the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) or Government Contracting industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing financials for a Defense Integrator or Manufacturer (hardware/material handling experience is essential).

Skills:

  • Proactive Communication: You don't just report the numbers; you explain why they happened and what needs to change. You anticipate the issues before they occur and guide the team to successful mitigation.
  • Compliance Mindset: You view FAR/DFARS not as a hurdle, but as the framework for successful execution.
  • Detail-Oriented: You can spot a misallocated material cost or an incorrect labor rate immediately.
  • Advanced proficiency in Deltek Costpoint or Unanet (GL, Projects, and Materials modules).
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
  • Expert-level Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling).
  • Experience pricing and managing various CLIN structures and contract modifications.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a desire to mentor and develop less experienced team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear business narratives for non-financial program managers.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential data.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Standard office environment with occasional requirements to visit client sites, labs, or field environments.
