The Senior Financial Analyst will serve as a central analytical resource across finance, operations, and transportation. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role reporting directly to the Director of Finance. You will own the data and models that drive transportation variable analysis, operational performance measurement, carrier pricing decisions, and client repricing execution.
This is not a back-office support role. You will be embedded in strategic conversations, expected to develop deep domain expertise in 3PL transportation economics, and given the tools, access, and autonomy to do your best work. As the company grows, this role is positioned to own and build out the analytics function.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: May Include other duties as assigned.
Transportation Analytics
Analyze carrier billing data across small parcel and regional carrier partners to identify discrepancies, trends, and cost drivers.
Develop, maintain, and enhance transportation rate models incorporating base rates, fuel surcharges, dimensional weight calculations, accessorial, and zone-level pricing.
Assess transportation cost variability and risk factors at both the client and carrier level, highlighting potential areas of exposure.
Support pricing analyses for new and existing clients by providing modeling, scenario-based cost assessments, and data-backed insights.
Deliver clear analytical recommendations to leadership and commercial partners to support informed decision-making.
Financial Modeling & Reporting
Build and maintain financial models supporting operational performance analysis, cost tracking, and business case development.
Produce clear, decision-ready reporting for leadership on transportation cost trends and operational performance.
Support facility-level performance reporting by identifying trends across key operational and financial KPIs.
Contribute to monthly close analysis, including variance analysis and performance narratives related to labor and transportation.
Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, with increasing ownership over time.
Define, track, and develop dashboards for key performance indicators (KPIs) used by internal leadership and, where appropriate, external stakeholder reporting.
Systems & Business Intelligence
Leverage Qlik Sense as the primary analytics platform for dashboarding, data exploration, and reporting.
Serve as a key contributor to Transportation Management System (TMS) initiatives, supporting data validation, reporting, and process alignment.
Partner with IT to advance analytics capabilities within proprietary internal systems, ensuring transportation and billing data are accurate and actionable.
Adopt and implement AI-enabled tools to improve analytical efficiency and turnaround time.
Cross Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with sales, finance, and operations teams to support client onboarding, billing review, performance analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise insights for stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
As the organization scales, contribute to the roadmap for expanding analytical capabilities and supporting future growth.
Qualifications
4 or more years of experience in analytics, finance, operations, or a related field; logistics/3PL experience a strong plus
Advanced proficiency in Qlik Sense or a comparable BI platform (Tableau, Power BI); ability to build and maintain data models independently
Strong Excel and Power Query skills, including financial modeling
Demonstrated ability to learn complex domain knowledge quickly and apply it analytically
Excellent verbal and written communication; you can distill a complex rate analysis into a clear recommendation for any audience, regardless of their analytical background
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities
Preferred Attributes
Experience in transportation, carrier management, or 3PL operations
Familiarity with TMS platforms and implementation processes
Experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) as part of an analytical workflow
Background in financial modeling for operational businesses
