The Senior Financial Modeling Specialist designs, builds, and maintains scalable financial and data models that directly support analytics, reporting, and executive decision-making. This role is critical in evaluating early-stage and company economics through scenario modeling, break-even analysis, and cash flow forecasting. The Specialist develops models that inform launch, investment, and go/no-go decisions by stress testing assumptions, identifying key risk drivers, and translating complex outputs into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics,

reporting, and financial decision-making.

  • Build and own scenario-based financial models, including break-even analysis, sensitivity and

“what-if” modeling, as well as cash flow, runway, and profitability scenarios.

  • Develop models that directly inform launch, investment, and go/no-go decisions for small or

early-stage companies.

  • Stress-test assumptions and identify critical thresholds and risk drivers.
  • Hands-on experience building financial and data models to evaluate multiple business

scenarios, including upside, downside, and base-case outcomes

  • Proven experience developing break-even, sensitivity, and “what-if” models across key drivers

such as pricing, volume, costs, capital requirements, and timing

  • Experience modeling early-stage or small company economics, where assumptions materially

impact outcomes and decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to design models that directly inform go / no-go decisions, including

whether a company, product, or initiative should be launched

  • Experience stress-testing assumptions and identifying critical thresholds (e.g., minimum

volume, margin requirements, funding runway)

  • Ability to clearly communicate model outputs, risks, and trade-offs to executives and

non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience modeling cash flow, burn rate, runway, and break-even timelines for early-stage

businesses

  • Design models optimized for Power BI / Excel / SQL-based reporting
  • Ensure models support self-service analytics without sacrificing control
  • Translate complex model outputs into clear, executive-ready insights
  • Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship on modeling best practices
  • Performing other duties will be at the discretion of management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial data modeling, FP&A or related analytical role.
  • Proven experience building scenario, break-even, and what-if models that inform strategic decisions.
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or programming languages (e.g., Python, R), preferred.
  • Exposure to deal analysis, corporate development, or investment evaluation, preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong understanding of financial statements.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational data modeling.
  • Familiarity with valuation methods, forecasting techniques, and scenario modeling.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present findings to executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
