Senior Footwear Designer

The Senior Footwear Designer is responsible for leading the design and development of innovative, market-driven footwear collections. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in development of sneakers, running shoes and/or formal leather shoes. The ideal candidate combines strong aesthetic sensibility with deep technical knowledge of materials, construction methods, and production processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead seasonal footwear design initiatives from initial concept through final production
• Develop original design concepts, detailed technical drawings, and comprehensive tech packs
• Research market trends, materials, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform product direction
• Select and specify appropriate materials including natural and engineered components
• Oversee prototyping, sample reviews, and fit sessions to ensure quality, comfort, and performance standards
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers
• Ensure products meet cost targets without compromising design integrity

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field
• 7+ years of professional footwear design experience
• Proven experience designing structured and performance-driven footwear categories
• Strong knowledge of construction techniques, pattern engineering, tooling, and material applications
• Expertise in leather, synthetic materials, and textile applications
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), and 3D design software (e.g., Rhino, CLO, or equivalent)
• Ability to create detailed technical packages and communicate clearly with manufacturing partners
• Strong understanding of fit, ergonomics, and product performance requirements
• Experience working with domestic and international factories
