Job Description: Senior Frontend Developer - Next.js/React/GraphQL

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Frontend Developer with deep expertise in Next.js, React, and GraphQL who can hit the ground running from day one. This role requires a seasoned professional who has extensive experience building frontend components for modern CMS platforms and integrating with GraphQL & REST Content APIs. While Sitecore XM Cloud experience is highly desirable, what's essential is proven expertise in headless CMS architectures and content API integrations. The ideal candidate is self-driven, highly disciplined, works independently with minimal supervision, and combines technical excellence with clear verbal and written communication skills.

Location : Fully Remote (No travel required)
Flexible location with ability to overlap at least 3-4 hours with US Eastern Timezone for meetings and collaboration

Contract Duration : 6+ months with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities Frontend Architecture & Development

Architect and implement scalable, high-performance Next.js 14 applications with proven track record
Design and develop server-side rendered (SSR) and statically generated (SSG) pages
Implement Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) for optimal performance
Build reusable React components following atomic design principles
Develop modern web interfaces using HTML5, CSS3/SASS, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript
Ensure sub-500ms TTFB globally through edge optimization

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

Work closely with Project Director/Lead Architect on strategic technical decisions
Collaborate with technical lead and other team members on system design
Partner with Sitecore XM Cloud Developer on component integration
Lead frontend development team and establish coding standards
Conduct code reviews and ensure best practices adherence
Mentor junior developers and coordinate distributed team efforts
Drive technical decisions for frontend architecture

CMS Integration & Performance

Required: Expert-level experience building frontend components for modern CMS platforms
Required: Proven expertise integrating with GraphQL and REST Content APIs at scale
Required: Deep understanding of headless CMS architectures and content delivery patterns
Build robust GraphQL queries and implement efficient data fetching strategies
Configure content delivery networks and edge caching for optimal performance
Implement Vercel deployment pipelines and edge functions
Optimize Core Web Vitals and achieve Lighthouse scores >90
Configure CDN and caching strategies for global performance
Build API routes for data fetching and caching strategies
Implement real-time personalization using customer data platforms

Component Development

Build extensive reusable component libraries with WCAG AA accessibility
Implement responsive designs for all device types
Create component library with Storybook documentation
Develop multi-language support for global markets
Ensure SEO optimization and meta tag management
Develop with modern CSS solutions (CSS Modules, Tailwind CSS, CSS-in-JS)

AI-Assisted Development

Critical Requirement: Leverage AI tools for accelerated development
Use Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor IDE, or Windsurf for code generation
Implement AI-generated components and optimize with human expertise
Document patterns and share AI-assisted development practices
Achieve 30% productivity gains through AI augmentation

Required Qualifications Technical Expertise (Senior Level - Day One Readiness)

Required: 7+ years of JavaScript development with expert-level React proficiency
Required: 3+ years building production Next.js applications (versions 13/14) at scale
Required: Extensive experience building frontend components for modern CMS platforms
Required: Expert-level proficiency integrating with GraphQL and REST Content APIs
Required: Understanding and working knowledge of Vercel platform, including deployment, edge functions, and performance optimization
Required: Mastery of TypeScript with ability to architect type-safe systems
Required: Advanced proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, Tailwind CSS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
Required: Deep experience with state management at enterprise scale
Required: Proven track record of independently delivering complex frontend solutions
Must demonstrate: Ability to work autonomously and make technical decisions independently

Development Practices

Deep understanding of SSR, SSG, and ISR patterns
Expert-level experience with Vercel platform and edge computing
Proficiency with webpack, babel, and build optimization
Strong Git skills and experience with trunk-based development
Experience with automated testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)

Architecture & Design

Experience building design systems and component libraries
Understanding of micro-frontend architectures
Knowledge of performance optimization techniques
Experience with PWA implementation
Familiarity with headless CMS architectures

Experience with Sitecore XM Cloud and Sitecore JSS (Note: We are specifically looking for XM Cloud experience, not legacy Sitecore XM/XP 9.x)
Experience with other modern headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Strapi, Sanity)
Deep experience with Experience Edge or similar CDN-based content delivery
Knowledge of .NET Core and C# for backend understanding
Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with e-commerce platforms and integrations
Understanding of GDPR and data privacy requirements
Experience with CMS migration projects
Track record of mentoring junior developers

You'll be the senior frontend technical lead expected to:
