Together with the team that built 8 Ball Pool and Pool Masters, you will be the architect for our new pool/billiard party game that will include globally recognized IPs, launching on a new platform at the end of 2026. This is a full-time (remote possible) senior role that requires both a mastery of game systems design ensuring a cohesive and compelling player experience from concept to live-service and the ability to coordinate with artists, developers and IP owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Ownership: Take ultimate responsibility for the quality, coherence, and fun factor of the game's core systems, mechanics, and content. Design and architect the integration layer between physical control devices and the cloud-hosted game client/service backend.
- Documentation: Create, maintain, and own comprehensive, clear, and actionable Game Design Documents (GDDs) and design briefs for all features.
- Task Prioritization: Prioritize and track all design tasks, ensuring they align with the project schedule, technical constraints, and overall creative goals.
- Prototyping & Iteration: Design, script, and implement core game systems and mechanics using in-house tools or engines in Unity game engine.
- Data-Driven Design: Define and analyze key player metrics and analytics to validate design choices, identify pain points, and drive continuous iteration post-launch .
- Player Advocacy: Be the primary advocate for the player experience, balancing creative ambition with market trends, business goals, and technical feasibility.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience in Game Design, with 2+ years in a Lead or Senior/Principal role
- A proven track record of designing and shipping titles on PC, Console, or Mobile with an experience in party / hybrid casual games
- Practical experience integrating and using Generative AI (GenAI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools in Game Design.
- Expertise in Systems Design (e.g., player progression, economy, core loops) and a deep understanding of player motivation and retention drivers.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; comfortable defending design decisions to leadership and external parties and communicating clear tasks to technical teams.
- High proficiency with Unity game engine
- Experience with liveops and post-launch content strategy.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in multiple design disciplines (e.g., Level Design, UX, Narrative).
- Background in technical design or programming is a plus.
