Overview
Steer Studios is looking for a Senior Growth Director who will lead the strategic vision, planning, and execution of growth initiatives for a dynamic mobile video game company. This role drives user acquisition, retention, and monetization strategies to ensure sustainable business growth. The ideal candidate is a data-driven strategist with a passion for gaming, deep expertise in growth marketing, and a proven track record of scaling mobile app businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive growth strategy that aligns with company goals, focusing on user acquisition, retention, and revenue growth. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Data, Creative, and Engineering) to drive cohesive and effective growth plans. Stay ahead of market trends, consumer behavior, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities.
- User Acquisition: Oversee and optimize performance marketing campaigns across channels (Facebook, Google Ads, TikTok, programmatic, influencer marketing, etc.). Design, execute, and evaluate A/B tests to improve ad performance and user acquisition funnel efficiency. Manage budgets effectively to maximize ROI while scaling new user acquisition efforts globally.
- Retention and Engagement: Develop lifecycle marketing strategies, including in-app messaging, push notifications, and email campaigns, to enhance user retention and engagement. Work with product and live-ops teams to design features and events that drive loyalty and repeat play. Analyze user behavior and segmentation to tailor personalized experiences. Collaborate with monetization and product teams to align growth with in-app purchases (IAP) and ad monetization strategies. Optimize pricing, promotions, and virtual economy design to maximize revenue.
- Data and Analytics: Establish KPIs for growth and regularly report progress to executive leadership. Leverage data analytics tools to measure campaign performance and identify optimization opportunities. Build predictive models and dashboards to forecast growth and revenue trends. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of growth marketing and analytics professionals. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven team culture.
Qualifications and Key Skills
- 8+ years of experience in growth marketing, user acquisition, or related roles within gaming, mobile apps, or entertainment.
- Deep understanding of mobile gaming KPIs, ASO, and user behavior analytics.
- Proficiency in ad platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, TikTok Ads, etc.) and marketing automation tools (Braze, Iterable, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience using Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Looker.
- Proven ability to manage and scale marketing budgets while driving positive ROI.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and growing high-performing teams.
- Passion for mobile gaming and understanding of player motivations and market trends.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience launching games in multiple regions (North America, Europe, Asia).
- Familiarity with live-ops and seasonal event planning in games.
- Background in gaming or mobile app product management is a plus.
