Senior Handbag Designer

Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Handbag Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Handbag design and graphic design, with a comprehensive understanding of the product lifecycle management process. This individual will lead the creative direction of our handbag collections, bringing innovation, craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of both luxury design and commercial appeal. The ideal candidate is a visionary designer with strong technical skills and a proven track record in developing handbags from concept to finished product.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of seasonal handbag collections, from initial concept through final samples.
• Research market trends, materials, and consumer insights to inspire innovative designs.
• Create detailed sketches, technical drawings, and specifications for prototypes.
• Collaborate closely with patternmakers, sample makers, and factories to ensure high-quality construction and finishing.
• Oversee material selection, hardware, and color palettes aligned with brand identity.
• Mentor and guide junior designers, ensuring consistency and innovation across collections.
• Partner with merchandising and product development teams to balance creativity with commercial viability.
• Review prototypes, and make adjustments to ensure both design integrity and functional excellence.
• Maintain awareness of competitive brands and industry innovations.
• Present design concepts and collections to leadership and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in handbag design and construction, with a portfolio showcasing a wide range of styles and expertise.
• Strong understanding of luxury materials, leather, textiles, and hardware.
• Expertise in handbag construction techniques and finishing details.
• Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD) and hand sketching.
• Excellent knowledge of the product development cycle, from concept to production.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to balance creativity with market awareness and commercial needs.
• Exceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship, and quality standards.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
