The Senior Healthcare Surveyor will:
Survey Healthcare facilities throughout New Mexico for compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements for the following facility types:
End stage renal dialysis centers;
Ambulatory surgical services;
Acute care hospitals;
Home health;
Hospice;
Diagnostic treatment facilities;
Portable x-ray;
Occupational therapy;
Physical therapy;
Critical access hospitals;
Community mental health clinics;
Comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities;
Transplant hospitals.
How does it get done?
The Senior Healthcare Surveyor is responsible for:
Conducting surveys in accordance with the State Operating Manual, Bureau protocols, Federal and State Regulations;
Conducting annual, complaint investigation, validation, initial, and revisit surveys in health care facilities to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations;
Participating in pre-survey preparation activity including review of facility history files, media reports and gathering of applicable forms, standards and regulations;
Conducting surveys based on each facility type regulation;
Reviewing deficient practice findings with Acute and Continuing Care (ACC) team, identify and make determination of compliance in Acute and Continuing Care (ACC) Facilities;
Assigning standard or conditions level tags for deficient practice in ACC facilities;
Generating survey reports using federal and state computer database programs;
Writing deficiency survey reports using the Principles of Documentation guidance/regulations;
Submitting survey reports for review;
Ensuring all survey evidence is scanned and saved in the appropriate locations;
Collaborating and helping to create trainings using a variety of tools to provide the best quality of care across New Mexico. Administrative duties.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation, and /or Criminal Justice and two (2) years directly related experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of
continued employment.
Working Conditions
Office setting with extensive use of computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
High volume of extensive travel throughout the State.
