Senior Instructional Designer serves as the primary design partner for an assigned cluster of academic programs, working directly with faculty to convert existing courses to the new 7- week session format, improve instructional quality, and integrate AI-enhanced learning strategies developed in coordination with the Lead Instructional Designer.
Responsibilities

Partner with faculty in assigned school cluster to redesign graduate courses for the 7- week accelerated session format, ensuring learning outcomes are preserved and enhanced.

Apply backward design principles to restructure course modules, assignments, and assessments for compressed delivery while maintaining academic rigor.

Build and maintain course templates in Canvas LMS that reflect best practices in online and hybrid pedagogy.

Implement AI-enhanced design patterns (developed in collaboration with the Lead ID) including AI-assisted tutoring integrations, automated feedback mechanisms, and adaptive content sequencing.

Conduct faculty consultations and training workshops on effective use of Canvas, Microsoft Teams, and approved AI tools for instruction.

Perform regular course quality reviews using established rubrics (e.g., Quality Matters, internal CITL standards) and support continuous improvement cycles.

Ensure all course designs meet ADA/Section 508 accessibility standards and MSCHE accreditation expectations.

Contribute secondary-specialty expertise to projects across all four schools as needed.
Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field.

Minimum 3 years of instructional design experience, with demonstrated work in online or hybrid course development.

Proficiency with Canvas LMS (course building, module design, analytics).

Experience designing courses for accelerated or compressed formats.

Working knowledge of AI tools for education (e.g., ChatGPT/Claude for content scaffolding, AI-powered quiz generators, automated rubric scoring) and a demonstrated willingness to learn and adopt emerging technologies.

Strong faculty collaboration skills with experience navigating shared governance environments.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in STEM, healthcare, or applied sciences higher education environments.

Familiarity with MSCHE, ABET, CCNE, or other relevant accreditation frameworks.

Video/multimedia production skills (Panopto, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite).
