Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Rawafid is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to lead our instrumentation and control projects. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of advanced instrumentation and control systems. You will provide technical guidance to junior engineers and ensure that all projects are executed in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client expectations. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing system performance, enhancing process control, and supporting project management activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop I&C system architecture including DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS systems
  • Develop control philosophy and functional narratives for SWRO processes including membrane trains, high-pressure pump sequencing, CIP automation, and chemical dosing control
  • Select and specify instrumentation for seawater and brine service, including flowmeters (magnetic and ultrasonic), pressure transmitters, level instruments, and analytical instruments (pH, ORP, conductivity, SDI, turbidity)
  • Prepare instrument datasheets and technical specifications
  • Develop and maintain I/O lists and instrument indexes for project execution
  • Perform control valve sizing, including selection of corrosion-resistant trims suitable for seawater applications
  • Develop SIS design and perform SIL assessments in accordance with IEC 61511
  • Prepare instrument cable schedules, hook-up drawings, and installation details
  • Design junction boxes and marshalling cabinets
  • Develop instrument location layouts and installation drawings
  • Design fiber optic communication networks for control and instrumentation systems
  • Support technical evaluation of DCS/PLC vendor proposals and submissions
  • Develop alarm management philosophy and rationalization strategies
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements in accordance with IEC 62443
  • Participate in HAZOP studies with focus on control and instrumentation systems

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control systems design
  • 5+ years of experience in desalination or water treatment plants, including DCS/SCADA for SWRO, seawater instrumentation selection, and control philosophy development
  • Must be registered and certified with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE)
  • ISA CCST, CAP, or TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of SWA technical standards
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing engineering teams and complex projects
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
