JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Insurance Risk Analyst is responsible for analyzing insurance risk strategy, and claims performance to ensure optimal risk transfer outcomes and maintain structure. This role serves as the liaison with third‑party vendors – including brokers, captive managers, and claim administrators – and company leadership, providing oversight of reporting, program structure, and performance. This positions partners closely with Legal, Finance, Accounting, Operations – supporting enterprise-wide risk management, compliance, financial reporting, and forecasting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyzes the insurance needs of an organization to provide optimum coverage, costs, and claim settlements.
2. Collects, classifies, and analyzes data from multiple sources such as audits, claims, renewals, and financial reporting.
3. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting and processing of all policy audits, payments, claims, and renewals.
4. Act as organization liaison for captive insurance and vendor relationship.
5. Additionally, Insurance Risk Analyst supports loss prevention and safety initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:- Basic knowledge of the operations of the business – terms, processes, and the effects on finance.
- Basic knowledge of flow of financial data from operations to subsystems, to PeopleSoft GL and reports.
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times.
- Able to respond to change productively and handle additional projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of company information; follow proper guidelines for distribution of data.
- Employ basic analytical skills – visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions that make sense based on available information.
- Utilize applications appropriately for all projects; proficient in Excel (macros, functions/formulas).
- Maintain effective relationships with all levels of the organization.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in business administration, economics, finance, public administration, or closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The position requires three years of increasingly responsible experience in in business, insurance, or related finance field, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
- Requires a bachelor's degree.
- Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
- Insurance Risk Analyst typically requires 2 + years of related experience.
- Knowledge of risk finance structures including captive insurance structures and other alternative risk programs with the ability to develop pros and cons of solutions and outline the related financial and accounting implications
