Description

Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the integration of various clinical, administrative, and operational hospital systems. The role ensures interoperability between hospital information systems (HIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), ERP, and external health platforms (e.g., MOH e-health services), contributing to efficient hospital workflows and improved patient care.

leads the planning, development, and execution of complex integration solutions across healthcare systems including EMR/HIS, LIS, RIS, PACS, and national health networks (e.g., NPHIES). The role ensures seamless, secure, and standards-compliant data exchange using HL7, FHIR, and DICOM protocols. The engineer provides technical leadership, mentors junior team members, and collaborates across clinical, technical, and vendor teams to support digital health transformation and regulatory compliance.

Organizational Accountabilities:


  • Ensure work is performed based on approved policies, processes, procedures, and instructions
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, cost reduction and productivity improvement
  • Ensure day-to-day activities are properly performed in line with policies and procedures
  • Follow-up on escalated cases/issues of subordinates to ensure they are closed efficiently and in a timely manner.

  • Functional Accountabilities:
  • Design and implement system integration solutions, using industry-standard integration engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, and Cloverleaf) and protocols (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, API, web services).
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize middleware components and interfaces connecting HIS, EMR, PACS, LIS, ERP, and other third-party systems.
  • Establish secure and efficient data exchange pathways between clinical systems and external platforms.
  • Monitor and manage data flow processes to ensure real-time, accurate data communication across systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve integration-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of clinical and operational services.
  • Analyze root causes for recurring problems and recommend permanent solutions.
  • Implement secure data transmission practices, including encryption and authentication protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including interface specifications, mapping documents, and system architecture diagrams.
  • Generate routine reports on interface status, incident logs, and performance metrics.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC).
  • Familiarity with NPHIES or similar national healthcare exchange platforms.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and experience debugging middleware and interface-level failures.
  • Support and mentor junior integration team members, providing technical guidance and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with IT application teams, vendors, and healthcare staff to understand integration needs and propose effective solutions.
Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

7+ years of experience in system integration, with at least 2+ years in healthcare IT integration environments.

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Skills:


Excellent administrative and organizational skills.

Good communication skills in Arabic and English (verbal and written).

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to prepare clear reports, meeting minutes, and maintain accurate records.

Time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Basic knowledge of IT service workflows and healthcare IT systems is desirable.

Ability to manage confidential information professionally.
