We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our growing team — someone who can confidently manage projects, collaborate with trades and contractors, and deliver exceptional experiences for high-end clientele.
The Role
This role is ideal for someone with at least 7+ years of residential interior design experience, ideally within the luxury market.
You will manage projects from concept through installation, serving as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and vendors. The ideal candidate combines strong creative vision with technical expertise and exceptional communication skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Creative Direction
- Develop full-home design concepts including space planning, finish selections, furnishings, lighting, and styling
- Create mood boards, presentations, and detailed design documentation
- Produce elevations and technical drawings to clearly communicate design intent
- Collaborate with third-party rendering partners by providing organized material selections, CAD drawings, and specifications for 3D renderings and visualizationsBalance beauty and function — ensuring homes are not only beautiful but livable and practical
- Maintain alignment with the firm’s elevated, California-inspired aesthetic
Technical Documentation
- Produce elevations, millwork details, and design drawings as needed
- Create and manage CAD drawings (AutoCAD preferred; proficiency is a strong plus)
- Prepare drawing packages and materials for contractors and trades
- Review shop drawings and construction documents to ensure accuracy and alignment with design intent
Project Management & Coordination
- Manage projects from concept to completion
- Work closely with contractors, architects, and tradespeople to ensure design intent is executed properlyAttend site visits and construction meetings
- Manage timelines and proactively problem-solve on-site challenges
Client Experience
- Serve as a confident and polished point of contact for high-end clientele
- Present design concepts clearly and persuasively
- Communicate proactively and professionally throughout the project lifecycle
- Build trust and long-term client relationships
Vendor & Procurement Management
- Source furniture, materials, textiles, and custom piecesCoordinate with vendors and workrooms
- Oversee procurement, tracking, and installation logistics
- Ensure quality control during delivery and install
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Support, guide, and mentor junior designers across projects
- Provide direction on design development, sourcing, and documentation
- Review work to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with design intent
- Contribute to a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team environment
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of residential interior design experience (luxury experience preferred)
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a growing, design-driven studio environment
- Strong portfolio demonstrating full-home or large-scale residential projects
- Experience producing elevations and detailed technical design drawings
- Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD preferred; SketchUp or similar software a plus)
- Experience collaborating with rendering teams or third-party visualization partners
- Proven experience working directly with contractors and trades throughout construction
- Deep knowledge of materials, finishes, custom millwork, and furniture specification
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior designers is a plus
- Based in San Diego and available for in-person site visits
Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
