Senior Java Developer

About the role
As a Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining robust enterprise applications that support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the Technology & Engineering team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions.

In this role, you will:
Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from concept through deployment.
Write well-structured, testable, and efficient code using Java and related technologies.
Ensure application designs align with business and technical specifications.
Prepare and deliver software releases and updates.
Support continuous improvement by researching new technologies and presenting recommendations for architectural enhancements.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Participate in code reviews and promote best practices in software development.

Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office. What you need to have to be considered
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven hands-on experience in software development using Java.
Strong experience in Java EE platforms and application design.
Proficiency in object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
Deep understanding of Java and JEE internals (e.g., classloading, memory management, transaction management).
Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and ORM technologies such as JPA2 and Hibernate.
Experience with the Spring Framework.
Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) practices.

These will help you stand out
Experience with popular web frameworks such as JSF, Wicket, GWT, or Spring MVC.
Sun Certified Java Developer certification.
Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
