Purpose: The Senior Lab Analyst is responsible for executing advanced tasks within the chemical laboratory, ensuring the accurate testing of chemicals in a manufacturing setting. This role encompasses the oversight of lab technicians and demands minimal supervision, coupled with a comprehensive knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and regulatory standards.
Primary Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate with laboratory manager and production for priority sample analyses and planning:
o Collaborate with the laboratory manager to determine the priority of sample analyses.
o Plan and schedule sample analyses in coordination with production needs.
o Ensure timely processing of high-priority samples.
  • Analyze data, identify trends, and report findings to laboratory manager and operations team:
o Perform detailed data analysis to identify significant trends and patterns.
o Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings.
o Communicate results and insights to the laboratory manager and operations team for informed decision-making.
  • Responsible for advanced testing procedures:
o Conduct lab qualification checks to ensure equipment and processes meet standards.
o Perform first fill cross-contamination analyses to prevent contamination.
o Manage lab batches and handle special customer requests for testing.
  • Operate, set up, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment:
o Set up and operate various laboratory instruments and equipment.
o Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to ensure smooth operation.
o Perform regular maintenance and calibration to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor Lab Technician I, II, & III on daily sampling requests:
o Oversee the daily activities of Lab Technicians at different levels.
o Provide training and mentorship to enhance their skills and knowledge.
o Ensure that sampling requests are handled efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of analyses and observations and can report the data to laboratory manager as well as customers:
o Keep detailed and accurate records of all analyses and observations.
o Prepare and present data reports to the laboratory manager.
o Communicate findings and data to customers as required.
  • Review, implement, and troubleshoot new product testing methods and if needed work with the customer to properly align testing protocols:
o Evaluate and implement new testing methods for product analysis.
o Troubleshoot issues with new testing methods to ensure accuracy.
o Collaborate with customers to align testing protocols with their requirements.
  • Maintain and implement sample integrity and storage:
o Ensure that all samples are handled and stored properly to maintain integrity.
o Implement procedures for sample storage to prevent degradation or contamination.
  • Maintain and implement proper housekeeping:
o Keep the laboratory clean and organized.
o Implement housekeeping protocols to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Follow and implement all safety protocols:
o Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols in the laboratory.
o Ensure that all team members follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.


Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry preferred:
o A degree in Chemistry is highly desirable, providing a strong foundation in chemical principles and laboratory techniques.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant lab experience:
o At least five years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, demonstrating proficiency in various lab procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail:
o Ability to meticulously follow procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy and precision in all tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication:
o Strong skills in conveying information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to colleagues, management, and customers.
  • Research and analytical skills:
o Proficiency in conducting research, analyzing data, and drawing meaningful conclusions to support lab operations and decision-making.
  • Mathematic and measuring skills:
o Competence in performing mathematical calculations and precise measurements essential for accurate lab work.
  • Knowledge of Scientific Method:
o Understanding and application of the scientific method to design experiments, test hypotheses, and validate results.
  • Good team working skills:
o Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment.
  • Troubleshooting:
o Skills in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues with laboratory equipment and procedures to maintain smooth operations.
  • Good record keeping:
o Maintaining detailed and accurate records of experiments, analyses, and observations for future reference and compliance.
  • Leadership:
o Capability to lead, supervise, and mentor junior staff, ensuring efficient workflow and professional development.
  • Able to lift at least 45 lbs:
o Physical ability to handle and move heavy equipment or materials as required.
  • Stand for extended periods of time:
o Endurance to remain standing for long durations during lab work.
  • 40 hours per week:
o Availability to work a full-time schedule, ensuring consistent presence and contribution to lab operations.
